Dame Angela Lansbury, star of the US TV crime series Murder, She Wrote, has died aged 96. RIP Angela. I was going to add something funny but decided not to.

Very sad news, one of my favourite Actresses. I always liked watching Angela Lansbury, in the role of Jessica Fletcher, in the long running Crime Drama series Murder, She Wrote, I have seen some episodes of the series on Sky, this year. Angela Lansbury, appeared in many films, including National Velvet (1944), The Court Jester (1956), Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971), The Lady Vanishes (1979), The Mirror Crack'd (1980) and Mary Poppins Returns (2018). R.I.P. Angela Lansbury. www.BBC.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-63221326

In that one sentence, the longevity of her career is revealed. Her first credit seems to be Gaslight, released in 1944 like National Velvet. Her last was in 2018. That's a 74-year career. Quite astonishing and a testament to her talent and popularity.

A career that lasted eight decades, think most people grew up knowing her from at least one of her roles, for me it was murder she wrote which always seemed to be on when I was a kid, but had roles in some memorable films as well. RIP

Not been mentioned so I'll give a shout out for her role as the duplicitous, and dangerous, mother in The Manchurian Candidate. Only three years older than Laurence Harvey who played her son.
