Part of all our childhoods, it was somehow comforting that he was with us until now. RIP your Reverence.

Very sad to hear that Frank Williams has passed away. A fine old age but it's sad to lose another link to the early days of television and of course the wonderful Dad's Army. Frank was a superb ambassador for that show and, inevitably, as a young man among a cast mainly composed of old men, one of the last survivors of that classic series. Unless I'm very much mistaken Ian Lavender's the only regular DA player left now. Time marches ever onward.
Frank was a gifted comedy performer. Respect and RIP.

Very sad news.
Dad's Army, will always be one of my all time favourite Sitcoms (definitely in my top five), I saw Frank Williams, a few times, at Dad's Army Days, at Bressingham, Norfolk.
R.I.P. Frank Williams.

His portrayal of the Vicar in Dad’s Army was so well done, that it became the stereotype of vicars in sitcoms for years after. He was also great for promoting Dad’s Army even in his later years was still attending events and was a very personable to fans. RIP

Sad to hear this. He was very good as the vicar. Also a member of the Church of England General Synod in real life.

Sad news. RIP Frank. Probably best known and most fondly remembered for playing the vicar in Dad’s Army. Had an uncredited role in the 1967 film Robbery, starring Stanley Baker, James Booth, Barry Foster et al.

The vicar was always the voice of sanity in the trio of him, Mr Yateman and Warden Hodges. His comic exasperation easily matched Captain Mainwaring's at times. Great performance by the late Mr Williams. As Wynn Chester says above the Minder cameo is also well worthy of note. Very different to the vicar, but still recognisably Frank Williams.

Several years ago I visited the place where the train robbery scenes were filmed. It’s near Theddingworth in Leicestershire if anyone’s interested.
