Former Bon Jovi bassist Alec John Such died a couple of weeks ago age 70 www.BBC.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-61701017Strange to think that Alec was only a few years younger than my father, but he and drummer Tico Torres were a fair bit older than Jon, Richie and David. Although his later accounts dispute it, he was fired from the band by Jon in 1994 for a variety of reasons but they got back on good terms to the extent that he did a one-off performance with them in 2001 and again in 2018 when they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Bon Jovi in Lyon in 1993 when I was 21 years old remains the best rock show I have ever seen. Probably not the slickest or the most technical but for sheer fun and an amazing vibe seeing a band that usually played stadiums rocking hard infront of only about 2000 fans. Alec and Richie on either side of Jon were a massive part of the pace and energy of the show and Bon Jovi was never quite the same without Alec's amazing high harmonies. So thank you Alec for being part of one of the best experiences in my life, and RIP.

I'll admit that I had Slippery When Wet... and it was a pretty good album. Alex took the wise decision to jump ship while they were still at their peak and, by all accounts, spent the rest of his life doing whatever he wanted and indulging in his various interests and hobbies.
