Henry Woolf has died at the grand old age of 91. He was the hapless Jimmy Dancer in the Sweeney episode 'I want the man', and I clearly remember him presenting BBC2 childrens schools programme Words and Pictures when I was small. He was an academic in Canada in recent years.

Think he did a lot of comedy stuff as well? He was good as Jimmy Dancer, the part could have easily been a caricature but Woolf's performance made you sympathise with him and I think the audience shares Carter's anger at his fate.

"Frankie Barrer" - the Godfather of Shepherd's Bush" in Steptoe and Son Ride Again , and anyone else remember that hideous evil maggot he played in Dr Who ? 🤮 Trivia time - he starred in a 70s shocker with Keira Knightly's father that was so brutal it was practically banned by the authorities (Arch is bound to have a copy tucked away !)
RIP Sir

Another bit of childhood gone. I watched the 'Words and Pictures' episode featuring the 'witches of halloween' recently as part of my traditional halloween viewing season.

R.I.P. Henry Woolf. Didn't think he would be as old as 91
