Without the saturation coverage we get these days he was a little before my time, but I’ve always been aware of how good he must have been - his goal scoring record was phenomenal.
RIP.

In the days when defenders went about their business in a slightly more 'agricultural' manner than today it's indeed a remarkable one. RIP Bomber.

Some goalscoring record. He had alzheimers for a number of years so no doubt there will be talk of heading heavy balls, like Jeff Astle and a few others.

Before my time, but his stats say it all. His record for Germany 63 in 60 games, or something like that, and in a time when you didn't play diddy countries like they do now to rack up goals against, was some going.

Great goalscorer. Always seemed to score when Bayern Munich or West Germany were on tv in the early to mid-seventies including the winner which knocked England out of the 1970 World Cup.
