Very sad news indeed - a legend for Liverpool fans, managed by Brian Epstein, friends with The Beatles and the first act whose first 3 singles all went to number 1 back in the time when the charts really were a big deal

This is very sad. Growing up my dad would play Gerry & The Pacemakers Greatest Hits in the car around and around and around Loved it, what a sound.
How Do You Do It, I like It, Ferry Cross The Mersey ... these are works of art that transcend generations.
I've played a few of their tunes over the years in bands. It doesn't matter who you support, trust me ... playing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' to a pub full of Welsh at 11pm, you'll get the whole place singing along. Welsh and Liverpool, there's a bond there I'm sure. These are tunes that tell a story and we're listening.
When my brother died last year, he chose 'Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying' to be played. It's a brilliant and thought provoking song, as are many Gerry & The Pacemakers played.
A true Scouser, a inspirational performer and a nice guy. When he sang and played, he transmitted happiness to you, and there is no better thing a person can do in my opinion.
“The noblest art is that of making others happy.” — P.T. Barnum
RIP Gerry - we won't let the sun catch us crying
