Only just learned that Wild Geese actor Ian Yule died in a Chichester care home on December 3. His life reads like an adventure novel - Korean War veteran , SAS Trooper , Mercenary with Mad Mike Hoare in the Congo before joining Rhodesian Defence Forces fighting Marxist guerrillas. Went on to star as Sgt. "Tosh" in The Wild Geese then the following year in Zulu Dawn. He settled in South Africa and continued to act and write - apparently he penned a successful screenplay but was ripped off by unscrupulous agents which left him in financial difficulties particularly with the onset of serious health issues. The South African Legion raised funds for him to return to England and he saw out his final years in Chichester.
RIP Sir

Hi Mate
Sent this to a friend of mine who is mad on the South African Military and owns a Unimog vehicle ! He told me a friend of his gave him a place to stay in Chichester while he got his accommodation sorted and apparently he wasn't very appreciative but he never said anything as Ian was a proud man with one hell of a career
Regards

Funnily enough I did read of someone in Chichester who took him in before he was found accommodation in the carehome - perhaps it was your mate's pal ?!
