Sad news.
Keep on Running, is one of my favourite 1960's songs, I can remember the song featured during the opening credits of the film Buster (1988).

I honestly had never heard of the guy and had just assumed it was just a group name, but of course I had heard of the songs of the group.
Sounded as though he lived a good varied life.
RIP Spencer.

My brother, a Mod in the sixties, once told me SDG were one of the first non-Mod bands the Mods latched onto. With Spencer Davis's prominent guitar style and Winwood's soulful voice, you could understand why...

Played 'Keep on Running' in the band for years. Mybro played the distinctive bassline down to a tee. Very sad news this.

Perhaps like Manfred Mann, he seemed a fairly unnasuming guy who had others as the 'face' of the band.
I do like the SD Group run of hit singles, e.g.'I'm A Man' is very atmospheric with the haunting backing vocals.
