A legend gone too young. Rest in peace. So many iconic guitar melodies by him throughout the years; they'll never die.

This is a shock to hear.
R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen.

I might as well Jump!
Wow, this is sad. What an inspiration he was to so many people, including me. There are so many cool things Eddie Van Halen brought to the music world and like few before him had the courage to try new things, make them his own and put them out there for people to enjoy. Cancer is a ****.
R.I.P. Eddie, keep on rocking up there.

R.I.P. Edward. You changed everything. After 1978, surely every rock guitarist tried to be Eddie. Saw Van Halen in 1993 in Birmingham. Fantastic.

Yet another of our 'yesterdays' gone too soon. Don't know how the floor at our local disco stood up to the pounding it got during 'Jump!' RIP

Not my kind of metal but the man's talent, influence and legacy are indisputable.
Seems to have been a nice chap too by all accounts.

My closest friend's major influence on learning guitar. He was innovative beyond innovative, and changed the way people played guitar perhaps more than anyone before him or certainly since Les Paul. Very sad news and 65 is no age these days.
