More sad news with the death from cancer of the British boxer who won an Olympic medal in Munich and became WBA and WBC middleweight champion before losing to the great Marvin Hagler. www.BBC.co.uk/sport/boxing/54107864RIP.

Yes, more sad news. A decent enough boxer with plenty of spirit.
RIP Alan

The Minter-Hagler fight was really big news when I was a little boy. There was certainly some talent in that division in that period. Sad news - 69 is no age these days.

I didn't realise he'd passed away. I seem to remember him co-presenting a weeknight programme of amateur boxing bouts in the 80s on Channel 4(?).
Always thought he looked a proper little hardnut - he looked like a fighter.
Young age to go, very sad.
RIP.
