The Commitments is one of my favourite films. A brilliant film from a story from one of my favourite authors.
RIP

He wrote, Melody (1971), which I honestly didn’t realise until just now, even though I’ve seen it a few times. And Angel Heart, which is a personal favourite. Those two are my Pick of the Parker Pops but he usually made a good movie, so I get why others might say things like The Commitments or Bugsy Malone or Mississippi Burning or summat.
RIP Alan. Some really decent movies.

Some really decent movies. I didn’t know he wrote Melody! I saw it in the cinema when it was released in 1971 as S.W.A.L.K. The Bee Gees provided most of the music for it. It gets shown on Talking Pictures TV now and again.
He also directed the BBC production “The Evacuees’ in 1975 which is excellent. Written by Jack Rosenthal.

I forgot about Melody, a very charming film which captured a certain period perfectly.

Bugsy Malone, Pink Floyd: The Wall, Evita, Angela's Ashes. I was hooked on all those movies, which he had heavily involvement making. RIP Alan Parker.
I have so many people talking about Pink Floyd: The Wall. I'm not fond of them but that movie make Pink Floyd look so good.
With Bugsy Malone. I was part of a school play of the movie. I got a role playing one of the characters of the play from the movie, so that was fun, being part of. I wasn't sure what the mvoie was and I had taken the time to see how the real Bugsy Malone was. I would see why the teachers were fond of the idea. Couldn't have got into drama and had experience without Sir Alan Parker's original movie. I don't know what to really say about that.
