Just heard the sad news that the brilliant character actor Michael Angelis has died aged 67
Appeared in so much including most of our favourites and of course was the voice of Thomas the Tank Engine for many years.
Will always be best remembered by me for playing Chrissie Todd in the superb Boys from the Blackstuff.
RIP Michael

Earliest memory of Michael was Lucien in Liver Birds. RIP Michael. 67 is no age these days.

Very sad, fantastic screen presence in anything I've ever seen him in. Superb actor, of course he played Nick in Minder's 'The Dessert Song'.
RIP

Very sad, an excellent actor who I always thought was underrated. Great in so many things blackstuff, no surrender and of course the lovely voice over for Thomas

Maybe time for a watch of No Surrender. Good actor, should have been in more films.
RIP Michael.

RIP. His brother was Paul Angelis who played Barney Prince in Stoppo Driver. He also died quite young at 65.

Fine actor, and obviously Alan Bleasedale thought so too. Lots of impressive work as noted above - I'd just add that he's really good as an old school scouse copper in an episode of Between the Lines.

Must admit the name meant nothing to me, until I googled, and recognised his 'boat' instantly. Always looked sturdy healthwise. We have lost quite a few good ones recently. RIP

RIP. His brother was Paul Angelis who played Barney Prince in Stoppo Driver. He also died quite young at 65. Though it's sad that nobody has updated Paul's Wiki page that he passed away, although it was in 2009. He had a huge body of roles, including For Your Eyes Only and was the voice of Ringo in Yellow Submarine.

There's some confusion about his year of birth. Some obituaries give his year of birth as 1944, others as 1952. On Findmypast I've found an entry for a Nicolas [sic] Michael Angelis who was born in 1944 (in Paddington, London, not Liverpool) and who was married in 1991 to Catherine Helen Wigglesworth (Helen Worth) and in 2003 to Jennifar [sic] Khalastchi - so I think it's the right person. I notice that Paul Angelis was born in 1943, also in London, so I wonder if the family moved to Liverpool when the boys were little and obituary writers have assumed they were born there. There was no other Michael Angelis (or Nic(h)olas Michael Angelis) born at around the right time.
I've submitted a correction to IMDB, since that's where Wikipedia and some of the obituaries may have got their information, but it usually takes a few days for DOB changes to be processed. IMDB has a trivia entry that says Paul and Michael were born on the same date but 9 years apart. I'm not sure whether the same-date information is correct, but the years apart needs to be corrected.

I wasn't sure of his date of birth either when I created this thread, but thanks for the info.

I often get the Angelis brothers mixed-up. It was Paul who I recall in the film 'Sweeney!' as the hitman pursuing Regan.
I remember Michael as Lucien in 'The Liver Birds', he used to make me laugh at the time.
R.I.P. Michael Angelis.

Yes, I think so - the characters surrounding Foster in that film were mysterious.
