I just found out this rubbish news by complete accident. The writer/director/producer Stuart Gordon passed away of ‘multiple organ failure’ on March the 24th.
A very reliable name to be attached to any project, but he will be best remembered for movies like Re-Animator, From Beyond, Dolls and a whole host of other often Lovecraft based horror movies.
Though he did all sorts, from Honey I Shrunk The Kids to Space Truckers.
Thanks very much for the movies Stuart, they entertained me a lot. Another real American horror hall of famer bites the dust.
RIP Sir.

I remember there was a real buzz about Re-Animator when it came out. Was it only available on video over here? Remember renting it and thinking this was going to be something special, and it was. Always thought RobotJox was very underrated. He did loads of stuff though, often entertaining and usually all the more impressive for being on a small budget.

From Beyond and Dolls are both really good fun. Robot Jox I cannot remember. I saw it when it came out. I think it bombed at the Box Office though. I think Charles Band did a couple too that were similar. Robot Wars and Crash & Burn. One or both of which I seem to remember had Gordon regular Barbara Crampton in it. I seem to remember an interview with Jonathon Ross where IIRC he stated that the movie he went to see on his first date with Goldman was Reanimator at the pictures, so that suggests it had a limited (if not widespread) theatrical release over here. That or Ross was confused and talking rubbish.
