How sad, wasn't a fan of Little and Large, but he always came across as a genuine bloke in interviews.

Can't pretend that L&L were my favourite double act but they made me chuckle as a kid. RIP Sir

Can't pretend that L&L were my favourite double act but they made me chuckle as a kid. RIP Sir Same for me BSD. They weren’t my favourites but if they were on telly it’s not like I’d rush to change the channel. RIP Eddie.

RIP. I watched Little & Large when I was very young on Saturdays and it got by on visual gags mostly. Probably it was a little more funnier than ITV's The Grumbleweeds. Eddie always seemed a cheerful chap and it's a rotten shame he went the way he did.

As said before , not classic stuff but came a cross as a genuine pair and quite humble about the fame , Sid is brilliant in the episodes of the "Marigold hotel series" all the others in the group loved him and he speaks highly of Eddie

I think most of us brought up in the 80s watched L&L and whilst it is easy to mock it now it was enjoyable enough. I always imagined Eddie to be a guy who would have been a funny enough guy in his own right.
RIP Eddie

I always imagined Eddie to be a guy who would have been a funny enough guy in his own right. Friend of my Dad's who used to travel a lot with work ran into him a hotel bar in the 1990s and said he was exactly that.

The Daily Mail wrote a particularly nice piece on Eddie today - seems he was a genuine good guy :+)

This is sad news, very sad news. Some hated them but I loved them as a kid. RIP Eddie, thanks for the laughs.

I hadn't realised he was born in Glasgow, not many escape.
Had also forgot how big a Man City fan he was, long before the days of money and Pep as manager. Plenty of footage doing the rounds of him at Maine Road when they were very shyte, including him sitting in the dug out.

When Morecambe & Wise, Tommy Cooper, Dick Emery, Eric Sykes et al began to be phased out from our TV screens, a newer generation of stars like Little & Large, Paul Daniels, Cannon & Ball and Russ Abbott took their place.
They were in the same mould, but didn't quite have the same gravitas. In some ways, they could be a bit of a parody and they peaked at a time when the 1980s new wave of comedy (The Comic Strip, Young Ones etc) were emerging.
That said, the geniality of Little & Large off-screen has been mentioned by numerous people, and they learned their job through years on the club circuit, e.g. they had a summer season at Scarborough supporting Des O'Connor at The Futurist theatre in 1973.
It is these factors that probably made a major contribution to their TV success.
R.I.P. Eddie Large.
