A great series of credits. Thanks. RIP Michael. Just one question, who’s going to edit The Langley Book of Horror now?

Shoestring’s boss Don Satchley passes away. I always thought they should have made more. RIP Michael.

Big age. He was already about 58 when he was in one of my favourite Minder episodes.

I thought he had passed over a few years ago.
Will always be remembered from Shoestring for me though, a series which reignited his career in acting.
Often see him in old films from the 50s & 60s, was one on TP the other night with him.
A very good innings.
RIP

Very sorry to hear this. Did a bit of directing too, I saw something the other day which had his name in the credits. But a long distinguished career.

Very sad to read this, he was in a lot of great films in the 50s and 60s and starred alongside George Cole.

"To tell the truth, I'm a very dishonest man!" Has to be one of the classic lines from Minder. Always a welcome presence in Shoestring as Eddie's long suffering but usually genial boss.

There was an obituary in the print edition of the Guardian today, although I see it was published online at the time of his death. But it brings out just how distinguished and varied his long career was. Co-producing the film 'If..' in itself is a remarkable achievement. And although you would have to be really old to remember it now his role in the 'Army Game' brought him a high degree of fame at the time. But here is his obituary: www.theguardian.com/film/2020/feb/28/michael-medwin-obituary

I read that earlier this year the prolific actor Micheal Medwin passed away in February aged 96. The star turn he played as Barry “the book” in the classic episode why pay tax I’m sure will live long in the memory of minder fans. Looking across his lengthy career it is fascinating. Best known for playing radio station boss Don Satchley in TV's Shoestring, he was a prolific supporting player who appeared in films with Michael Caine, Sean Connery and Albert Finney. He was Born in London in 1923, he was made an OBE for services to drama in 2005. Earlier in his acting career he played many Londoner spiv characters before turning to more comedic roles. Thanks to Micheal for giving us that iconic character Barry the book.
