The famous British character actor and father of Fern has sadly died aged 95.
His career started in 1950. He appeared in 'Dr Syn Alias The Scarecrow', 'The Saint', 'Special Branch', 'Father Dear Father', 'The Day of the Jackal', 'The People That Time Forgot' and 'Don't Wait Up', etc. He is probably best known as Robin Tripp's father-in-law in 'Robin's Nest'.
RIP

He was in a lot. Surprised he never turned up in the Sweeney/Minder/the Professionals.

One of the last great British character actors, can't be too many left. Saw him in my teens in Don't Wait Up. Very suave. RIP.

That's a shame, one of them actors that was on TV a lot whilst I was growning up.
95 is a good age though.
RIP Tony

Although he's been in many TV shows and films over the years, I always think of him in a long forgotten sitcom from 1992 called 'Don't Tell Father' in which he played a rich stuck up actor who was completely in love with himself. His daughter Kate (played by Caroline Quentin) was going out with a driving instructor called Marvin (played by Philip Fox) and the father disapproved of the relationship even though Marvin was a decent man. It was quite a weak sitcom but I would buy it if it were ever released on dvd.
RIP

Doesn't sound a million miles away from his part in Robin's nest.
