Controversy strikes in this death match as we dare to suggest that Geoff Love & His Orchestra may actually have better versions of 4 classic TV & film themes.
1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service 2. UFO Theme 3. Ironside 4. Hawaii Five-O
Pick ONE of each ... which do you prefer, Geoff Love or the original?

Geoff Love, at the end of the day, is a covers band.

I only know Geoff Love’s version of Ironside vs. The Original. Geoff Love’s version kicks **se, and is so much better than the original. I have not heard the other tunes so have abstained until I know more.
Geoff Love’s version of Star Trek is missing from the vote too. This is superb:

Just had a listen to all the others. The originals of UFO and Hawaii Five-O are much better than Geoff Love. So for me, it’s 2-2 (Ironside and Star Trek for Geoff). Interestingly, the UFO titles contain the words ‘Sky One’ and ‘Mobiles’. Clearly, Gerry Anderson was well ahead of his time, even if they didn’t appear in ‘1980’. Out of interest, does anyone think the James Taylor Quartet’s versions of Starsky and Hutch and Dirty Harry are better than the originals? I think they are brilliant:

Geoff Love, at the end of the day, is a covers band. Yep, but the question is, do you prefer the cover to the original?

I would never have heard of the James Taylor Quartet if it had not been for a friend of mine, Nicola, in university. Me and and my mate Sion went round to pick her up for a night out and she had the Starsky and Hutch theme playing on her CD player. The rest they say is history. I got into JTQ. Nicola met a bloke called Mark who later got arrested for doing illegal drugs. And Sion never left folk music.
