Pr1 and I mentioned this sad news potentially not being far away in the Music section a couple of days ago.
Sad news because she was the Queen of Soul in the 60s. She really made some terrific music in that golden decade for music. She really did deserve the accolade "music legend".
RIP

What a shame, but that voice will live forever.
I cannot claim to be any sort of authority on her music, but what a voice. As I posted on a TOTP review a while back she could sing the ingredients off a bag of crisps and make it the best thing you have ever heard. She sits right up at the top table of female singers.
RIP

RIP Aretha Franklin, I only seen her in the movie Blue Brothers and she was nice enough to return in the following movie Blue Brothers 2000. She made the movies worth while.

Very sad indeed. Aretha and THAT voice. A one in a billion talent. The first woman inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Lots of accolades, and rightfully so. Kind of quirky she died weeks after her husband in The Blues Brothers (Matt "guitar" Murphy) Godspeed Ms Franklin, and thanks for leaving us with an unmatched legacy.
