Class quiz show host. No nonsense or matey-ness, always delivered in impeccable style and played with a straight bat. His 15/1 show was the best quiz on TV and the Grand Final was always a great test. RIP WGS

Totally agree with ace5150 - top presenter, true professional and light years ahead of the rubbish we see presenting today.
RIP

Better known these days as a very good no nonsense quiz host. Previous to that he was a top TV producer/director and responsible for Father Dear Father, Love Thy Neighbour, Bless This House, My Good Woman, Spooner's Patch, The Rag Trade, Family Fortunes, Don't Forget Your Toothbrush and The Price is Right.
In fact he met his second wife Sally Geeson (who was 15 years his junior) whilst making 'Bless This House'.
RIP

I always rated him as he didn't sneer or joke if an easy question wasn't known. He accepted not everyone knows the answers. I did find it very worrying that he wanted Jonathan Ross to present the show originally. Always liked the Grand Final prize was an antique and not a cash prize. Class.

15-1 was the king of gameshows IMO, helped largely by his presenting style, superb show and not even a big fan of them in general. I think Ace sums it up best with his posts.
Produced a fair few sitcoms and gameshows over the years as well, including Bless This House and Love Thy Neighbour.
RIP

15-1 was very useful for homework avoidance as I could claim it was educational. :-) It was a surprise to find that he had been responsible for something so different as "The Price is Right". Just a minor correction to MIAS' post- It was the younger Geeson sister Sally in Bless This House who he married.

RIP I think it was about him that Lance in Detectorists said that you'd never catch him making a joke, or if he did, it was never very funny. Always something quite forbidding about him on 15-1 which is perhaps what made it so compelling. The sort of bloke who was tough but fair, light years away from the likes of Anne Robinson etc.

15/1 was one of my favourite quiz shows and he had an enviable CV of production and directorial credits that were a staple of Thames Tv in the 70s Rest in Peace Sir
