One of our finest actors. I'm planning to watch at some point, Edward VII, where he plays Prince Albert. I hate that most of the announcers can only align him to a certain Children's film franchise! 😡 www.BBC.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13783739RIP

Really sad to hear this, a truly great character actor. Lit up the screen whenever he was cast.
RIP

A really fine actor who I was actually thinking about just the other day. Put his own stamp on every role I have ever seen him play. They don't makes actors like this anymore. RIP

Very sad news.
One of Britain's finest Actors, will always be best remembered for All Creatures Great and Small, and also for playing Winston Churchill, many times.
Also appeared in many other TV programmes (many of which I have seen), including - The Baron, The Saint, Strange Report, Manhunt, the Sherlock Holmes Granada series, Inspector Morse, Midsomer Murders, Foyle's War and Lewis.
Robert Hardy, appeared in one of the best Christmas Ghost Stories - The Stalls of Barchester (1971).
Robert Hardy, was very good in the role of Charles Augustus Milverton, in The Master Blackmailer (1992), which was part of the Sherlock Holmes Granada series, The Master Blackmailer, was shown on ITV3, last night.
Robert Hardy, also appeared in the cult film Psychomania (1973).
R.I.P. Robert Hardy.

I didn't really enjoy All Creatures Great And Small as a wee-un. It seemed like a show for grown-ups.
That said, Mr Hardy was clearly a very good actor. Strange that I remember him for some very good performances with Morecombe and Wise - in their house I believe? These for me were always the best M&W sketches.
Robert Hardy also has a very minor role in the French film La Gifle (1974) with Lino Ventura. I remember being very surprised when he turned up in the film. Hardy doesn't actually speak any French in the film either.
Taking of great actors....Anything with Lino Ventura in it is worth watching. He made some superb films: he was the detective in The Medusa Touch.
