Captain Scarlet Closing Theme
Suggested by: me
For years I watched this and wondered why there were two different end themes over the credits.
I have my favourite, but which is yours?
(a) Mostly Instrumental Version
or
(b) Vocal Version by 'The Spectrum':

I prefer (b) by The Spectrum... Sure, it's a bit like a lame pop record, but I just think it's groovier. The instrumental one seems hollow, like it's missing stuff. It would have been better left with no vocals at all. I always liked Captain Scarlet, but thought the end credits were usually more exciting than the actual program I'd just seen! I thought they were so well drawn. It would of been amusing to see Alan Hansen in a live action version, he was a dead ringer for the puppet... Though on the credits C.S. looked more like Robert Vaughn!
My favourite Gerry Anderson puppet efforts were:
Fireball XL5 Stingray Captain Scarlet Terrahawks Dick Spanner P.I.

I like both but prefer the vocal version (b). I like all the Gerry Anderson programmes.

The first one has a very 60s vibe, great sound and is a great mix of different instruments. The coolest bit is around 1 minute for me.
The second one just doesn't have the same groove/vibe to it so it is a clear (a) from me!

I've never seen the very first one (nor the episodes in any sort of order if that matters) and have no idea how Captain Black turned into the stubble-proud villain of the piece. Nevertheless you can't help but love a bit of Captain Scarlet!

Captain Black WAS a good guy, but when SPECTRUM stumbled across The Mystrons on Mars, they got trigger happy and shot at the peace loving Mystrons who got the ar*ehole over it. They whacked Cptn Black. The Mystrons are an invisible force and need a body to do their work. Seeing as Black was dead, they took his body and the rest is history. Cptn Scarlett was with Black, but survived, he obtained Mystrons special healing powers, making him indestructible.

Cheers ace! I thought maybe he'd seen Liquid Gold on TOTP!

That's a trip down memory lane. But it's got to be B.
I think at the time I liked the attempt to tell the story in the theme tune

To be honest... I cannot decide. Both brilliant.
