This was a very good episode right at the end of the Ray years it would make you think they could have gone on. Gary Webster could have carried a further series himself excuse my ignorance but did George blow the whistle and thats why it finished up. Its too late now I suppose for a what nearly 55 year old Ray to return with say Tels son over from Australia to see his late dads old stomping ground. Ah wishful thinking but Ray would be same age as Arthur was and young Dave McCann would be late 20s.

Interesting. Who owns the franchise or is it now lapsed?

Interesting. Who owns the franchise or is it now lapsed? Thames didn’t loose the rights to Minder. They lost their ITV franchise. Central Television partly financed series 10 with Thames (in the guise of Euston Films) and 3 specials were planned after series 10 but Central pulled out and no other ITV companies were willing to pay production costs.

This was fun but in my mind took a while to get going. Stratford Johns was an excellent nasty piece of work, with even the screws giving him a wide berth. Having Arthur do Community Service was a good wheeze, with him taking his fellow cons from wanting his head on a spike to selling them bikes and games plus a microwave to the boss, but it was almost back to the days of Terry with Ray doing the heavy lifting to get Arthur off the hook. We could see Stratford John's demise coming from a mile off and it's really not up there compared to the previous episode although it's scoring far higher! Lots of excellent Arthurisms but it still felt a bit too contrived, so it's a solid Good from me but doesn't make it to Excellent IMHO.
