One of my all time fave Ray eps...so much going on in this, I feel exhausted by the time Arthur brings it all together! Great script and one of the few times we see Dave away from the Winch!

I agree - this is a very good one and it is great that Dave is used as Mr. Fixit to save Arthur's bacon. Despite it being old now this one has a modern feel to it.
The story is a little bit whacky as Arthur believes the Allegro rip off means even the lord himself is against Arthur Daley, but I like this to be honest. His confession is top dollar haha!
I remember when I went to Windsor to check out the yard where Ray repairs the Allegro - it had taken me the best part of 8 hours drive there (from Germany) only to be told 'no you can't come in today' by a jobsworth on the door. Imagine the disappointment having looked for this on G Maps for months and travelled all that time to get there to be told this - I was very grrrrr.
Fortunately there was a little old lady who worked in Windsor Castle tourist shop opposite who took pity on me (clearly heard of Minder!) and took me over there personally bypassing the security - we just walked straight through so I like to think on THAT day the lord was on my side.
The scene at the end where they all see the Allegro tickles me everytime. This is also a strange one as the flats seen behind Arthur's car as he approaches the lights seem very modern to me in what would have been 1993 (watch carefully to see people watching the action). They have since been knocked down and replaced.
Fair play - great episode with lots going on! Love it!

Great story about the trip to Windsor jno...now that's dedication! Glad you got lucky in the end. Strange you mention about its 'modern feel' - Ive always thought this too! Overall a good Ray ep in my opinion...and love Tiny bringing the Allegro into the car lot "granted it has a touch of the old Telly Savalas' (meaning bald tyres I guess) Arthur even tells Ray to put the car lot window in

After watching 'One Flew Over the Parents Nest' I then get a treat of equal measure with this gem of an episode, so much going on you couldn't blink in case you missed anything. As soon as I saw Perry Benson appear as Tiny, I knew we were in for a treat, as I think he is a great comedy actor and has a face that always cheers me up.
A great script which was well thought out, as with so much going on it must have been difficult in threading it all together in a way which kept it together and also very funny.
Sublime stuff!

This was a lot of fun! A great deal going on in this episode and I love the way Arthur BSs to the American when everything gets straitghtened out at the end, like it's all gone according to plan. Nice to see Dave away from the Winchester. Edda Sharpe is cute!

Strange to say but love the speed and script of this ep but it is beyond farce. The angle line exercise bikes,Dave ,who bless 'im, from memory, would take half a day to wire a plug, but manages, with as little help,to install two jacuzzis and sorting the two faulty undertakers tables ect (probably with that humungous wrench Ray used to install those satellite dishes) sums up the Ray years.Silly plotlines abound, watchable because of the legend that is Arthur, who is in full flow.Just my take on it is all.
Ps...I'm sure Sister Virginia would have put Sister Angelica straight on the Allegro. Also,in the scene where Chico blocks Arthur in his car lot, there is a passerby standing by the fence when seen in the above shot, watching the proceedings

A guy that worked for Action Cars often sells copies of paperwork for this episode on a well known auction site. Nice to see Arthur Daley's mobile number at the top.

I've changed my mind on this one. It's worth watching just to see Arthur's paranoia. Good hoot.

I loved this one. It is, as someone said, beyond farce, but it all k it’s together really well and Arthur manages to get it all together in the end. How he manages to have Jorgenson over is classic and the exasperation throughout from the Swedish guy is likewise. ‘Put your feet, bung on a bit of Abba’....quality AD lines. I have to agree with pr1, Edda Sharpe is very cute.

I liked it! Nice atmosphere lots of quirky and charming characters in the unusually large cast for this episode. Lots going on too at a fast pace for Minder and loads of different locations...I particularly liked the European shrink " I am 2nd door on the left at the top of the stairs" with his philosophical sayings about Arthur's " abject failure" and self loathing and "seeking comfort in drink, drugs and caaual sexual affairs.." :-)..........Virginia the enthusiastic car mechanic nun...and Tiny the big lump who sells Ray the Austin motor should surely have become a recurring character if the series had continued beyond 1994 ...and has Arthur's camel coat ever looked more immaculate?...It seemed to look cleaned and pressed well since his little sleepover on Brighton Beach in 10:3 :-) Not sure about the "Mr Santos" character he sounded more London Punjabi than South American in parts and the dodgy wavering accent reminded me a bit of Maltese Tony"s girl friend Imogen from series 7.
Ps jno great stuff about the location in Windsor...another brilliant find mate ..that little tourist shop is now a hipster coffee kiosk and it serves a great Terrys chocolate orange hot chocolate!

Watched this again this afternoon. I think it’s only the second time I’ve seen it. I enjoyed it a great deal more this time and will change my vote. Arthur’s dealing with the nun and his “conversion” are amusing. Arthur is seriously shoveling the BS when he meets the American at the end. 😄

I'm sorry but this one didn't do it for me. It just felt a bit lightweight, if that isn't too strange a thing to say, with too many of the characters just putting in average performances. People have said how they felt exhausted and maybe that's why it felt lightweight - we just skated over a load of stuff rather than doing proper justice to less stuff. Still some nice stuff to like, as people have said, like Arfur's confession, Dave's worries and Sister Virginia's role. But overall for me, the weakest episode this series, I'm afraid. Average.
