This is a superb sloshed and something a little different from the norm as they are overseas. Superb plot and really great dialogue as well as the love interest which is really quite sad as the lady believes AD to be a long lost soldier.... Very enjoyable. Well he is, well, sort of... minder.proboards.com/thread/2363/george-cole-wonderful-world-1956

Great minds think alike.... and I knew I would find others had already written what I was going to....just a beautiful atmosphere around this episode...makes me think what could have been if they"d continued Minder and given Ray a 10 year run....just a whole season set in France would've done me..or the ratings no harm! Apart from the great storyline...Its that other Minder constant...the great locations....that give the atmospheric feel of a time and space and era...I did my fair share of eurostar visits to Calais , Paris and Brussels in my time...and the warm fuzzy feeling oozes out of the screen.....clearly so much thought and attention was paid on this show we all love to what would make a great film shot....take that very last shot at the end of Minder on the Orient Express when Nikki South rushes out to beautiful sun lit road... smiles.. and than Arthur and Terry run out and look at each other and the screen freezes...its pure joy..and so was this episode. One of my top 3..along with Orient Express & Its a Sorry Lorry Morrie

I've visited most of the French locations in this one and stand on me, you'll get it even more when you're there. If you wanted to appear in Minder, just visit some of these French locations, it's such a treat.

This episode has all the elements of a great Minder episode, it's every bit as good as the classic Waterman episodes. We've got Arthur in terrific form, his tantrum with the police inspector is hilarious, and best of all, we've got Dave involved in most of the episode, which is great fun to have him more involved. When the van gets totally vandalized you'd think they would have known that would happen for sure, but it really points out that in their world, you can't leave anything unguarded for a moment because there is always some villain lurking in the wings.

Another great episode. It's a fun change of pace to see Arthur and Ray away from the manor and it's good to see Dave have a larger role ithan usual. Lot of fine moments through out the episode. Arthur in the French jail is a series high point! Watched this again tonight and was surprised by my reaction compared to my previous comments. I found it rather slow and dull this time. I still like the change of pace with it taking place in France and Dave have a larger role.

Brilliant episode , by far my fave of the post waterman era so far . Nothing really stands out but the consistency of it was brilliant, nice to see Dave gets a run out with the boys as well proving hes more than just a geezer behind the bar. A bona fide 5 star for me for this one. really hope the rest of season 10 can carry on this momentum as I felt season 9 had a slight dip as rays personality was being fleshed out by the writers

Just seen this comment now, totally agree, best part of this episode was that Dave was involved as much as the comedic duo

I did enjoy this one - Minder is better in Calais than Oz. A few laugh out louds - the three of them watching the boat on the horizon being the loudest. Dave coming out from behind the bar was good - as many others have said - although (going wildly off topic) I am still recovering from seeing Glynn Edwards getting his just deserts from Michael Caine whilst treating myself to a late viewing of Get Carter - though to be fair, if you are going to be knifed to death, it might as well be by Michael Caine. Anyway, a great episode, with great plans going astray plus the lovely Madelaine and the marvellous French plod. And customs stripping down the van when they got back - ouch! The only thing I found a bit of a bump was Arthur breezing through his night in the cell - we went from the gay sailor liking Arthur's hat to Henry coming clean and Arthur being sprung a bit too quickly and painlessly in my mind. But it makes it to Excellent - especially as it has the "What's French for en suite" line - how could I not?
