Sadly, the actor who appeared in 3 episodes of The Avengers and an episode of The New Avengers as well as The Saint, The Professionals, The Sweeney, Department S, and Doctor Who has died according to Toby Hadoke. He will probably be best known on here for his role as Everett in National Pelmet.
RIP.

A very good actor, notable for having appeared in the first Doctor Who story (in the later Stone Age episodes) - indeed his is the caveman shadow that menaces the just-materialised TARDIS at the end of the very first episode.
Always enjoyed his roles in The New Avengers, ITC and beyond.
RIP.

I first recall seeing Jeremy on television in a lead role in early 1980s car industry drama On the Line, which I'm surprised hasn't been released on DVD given the high profile in recent years of Amanda Redman, who played the lead female character in that series. The following year Jeremy guested in repeats of two of my favourite series, as the haulage boss scolding Jack Regan's lorry driver alter ego in Sweeney episode The Placer and in a classic Avengers story featuring Christopher Lee. Jeremy often appeared as no-nonsense or distant authority types and was excellent at this kind of character, as can be seen in his numerous TV roles. Like fellow Sweeney actor Michael J Jackson, Jeremy was from Liverpool and I'd never have thought either man hailed from that city. Both revisited their home turf in Brookside.
