Ron’s grandson has confirmed on Twitter that he sadly passed away on the 8th of March. He’ll probably be best known on here for his appearances in Minder (A Nice Little Wine), The Professionals (Foxhole On The Roof) and two Sweeney episodes. He also appeared in The Avengers (twice), Randall & Hopkirk, Target, Department S, Strange Report, Only Fools And Horses, The Saint, Callan, Special Branch and UFO amongst many others. A very recognisable actor.
RIP.

Everyone knew the face but few knew the name probably. Must have been constantly in work for decades. RIP

Not just a distinctive face but a voice to match too. His Foxhole on the Roof appearance seemed to stay with me from OT until I started rewatching the Pros in the noughties. I can’t say that about many of the guest actors tbh.
RIP Ron.

A very recognisable actor. Been in tons of stuff. Never seen him in any big roles but he always offered a certain edge.
RIP Ron.

A standout role in Regan as the landlord of the pub where Cowley met his fate.

I first remember him having a major supporting role in Secret Army, then noticed him appearing in all sorts of tV productions. including as the patriarch of the Tinson clan, regular clients of Rumpole of the Bailey. As others have saidm he was always very recognisable. Not familiar with his stage work at all but he seems to have been very active in the theatre as an actor, writer and director.

Sad to hear. He was a very memorable actor in his appearances in The Professionals, Minder, The Sweeney and Regan.
I'll also mention that he appears in possibly my favourite episode of Hi-de-Hi!, as a dodgy detective in the episode 'No Dogs Allowed' from 1981.

One of those faces hat cropped up in so many things, he must have worked with hundreds of famous faces. I wonder if it was his choice to stay in the minor roles or if he just never caught a producers/directors eye.
RIP.

Constantly in work without the pressure of carrying a show.

As per Felix, I read his Grandsons post on Twitter on Thursday, very sad news as I would say he was a great character actor.
Just had a face that fitted into any programme or series and I saw him on an episode of The Gentle Touch on Wednesday
RIP

I knew his name as well as face as he'd been in so many programmes I love over the years. Only last week I watched an episode of Angels (from 1975) in which he had a fairly substantial part where he was cast against his normal type as a polite mild mannered man who was secretly suffering from depression I thought to myself I haven't seen him in such a sensitive role before and he was very good, the next day I watched an episode of Villains (from 1972) and he was in that, I thought he really does appear in everything doesn't he, I guess if he hadn't retired from acting in 1992 following a stoke he would have been in many more television programmes.
No matter how small the part it was always a pleasure to see him turn up on screen
RIP

Sorry to hear this - Ron came across as an ordinary bloke and was one of the understated cult actors.
R.I.P. Ron Pember.

He played the Bakers' delivery driver in 'Poor Cow' and basically got his legover a young, lonely, needy woman by serving her with cakes and breads iirc. RB being cast in the role didn't sit right with me for some reason.
