Sad to hear that. As I said elsewhere he started a podcast a few weeks ago and some of the tributes suggest he has some unaired episodes. I was looking forward to more, but as he joked: 'at my age you don't buy green bananas'

Despite his age it’s a shock he seemed to be one of those characters who be round for ever, his body of work goes back to the fifties the amount of comedy and comedians he worked with is amazing RIP

I’m was absolutely gutted to hear the news this morning - I’ve been singing the praises of his podcast since it started at Christmas and hoped it would run for a very long time as the stories it contained were just hilarious. It quickly became my favourite podcast and was eagerly awaiting the next one with Gyles Brandreth so I did wonder if something might be amiss when it failed to appear on time. It would seem that Baz knew his time may be limited and the show was a way of saying farewell while preserving many of the anecdotes he had stored away in that razor sharp brain of his.
RIP to a comedy legend.

Comedy legend. Another probably more respected by his peers than the wider public. RIP Barry and thanks for all the laughs.

Sad to hear this; Barry Cryer is mentioned in just about every biography of famous comedians of the 60s and beyond and always with great reverence. I was only recently watching his excellent 'Comedy Legends' series on Sky Arts where he pays tribute to comedians old and comparatively new.

A very funny man, what else can one say? Of the jokes they mentioned on the radio I laughed at the penguin's brother one, and the ex-brothel parrot going cheap at the pet shop.

Growing up he always seemed to be on every panel show I could think of. They would always call him the comedian Barry Cryer but I’d think “never seen him do stand up”.
Nevertheless he seemed a very knowledgeable bloke who had a very witty way on all those shows I saw him on.
RIP Barry Cryer

He'd write sketches for more famous people than you can shake a stick at: Morecombe & Wise, Billy Connolly, Kenny Everett, Les Dawson, Rory Bremner, The Two Ronnie's, Richard Prior, Dave Allen,Tommy Cooper... it would be easier to name who he hasn't written for. He was a writing colossus. Yet he once said, "I was lucky".

I know the name but have seen very little of his work so I read up on him. He had quite a career and leaves a solid legacy. That he worked that long in show business and no one has any thing bad to say about him speaks highly of him as a man.
