I suppose it shouldn’t have been much of a surprise after last week’s announcement that he wouldn’t be takin part in the forthcoming tour but it was still a shock. Always seemed like a sensible bloke compared to the others and was happy just to stay in the background.
RIP.

Very sad news indeed. One of the greats of the drumming world and yet such a humble guy.
RIP, Charlie

It had to end sometime. And so it ends here really, whatever gigs are to be played out in the future.
Last saw them in 2018, and it was a great night out, wasn't expecting so much from the gig. Knew though it had to be my last time seeing them.

The best Rolling Stones story I ever heard (well, my favourite), was the time Charlie punched Jagger so hard that he flew across a table and almost out of an open window... they were several floors up at the time too! I'd have loved to have seen that! They'll have to call it a day (as the Stones) after they do this short US tour. I'm not suggesting that they all retire, but since Charlie was with them for about 58 years (every tour and album) and with Jagger and Richard the only ones left, it would, perhaps, be unfair and disrespectful to carry on as the Stones.

As I heard it he objected to being called ''my drummer'' by Jagger... ''I ain't your fackin' drummer..you're my fackin' singer'' and lamped one on him. Jagger is addicted to prancing about on stage so I think they'll sadly carry on. Keef isn't bothered either way probably.

The other thing about that story is the time of day - it was around 5am and Watts had been asleep in bed when Jagger had made the comment. According to Richards, when Watts arrived at Jagger’s room, he was immaculately dressed in a suit, shirt and tie and was even wearing after shave.

Not a big fan of the Stones, but everyone knows Charlie, possibly the least rock n roll musician of all time, but rightly classed as one of the best drummers of all time.
Also have respect for they guy for stating he doesn't like drum solo's.
He was the one who kept the peace between Mick n Keith, so be interesting to see if they do carry on.
RIP
