I was very surprised to hear this today. I didn’t even know he had cancer. Far too young to die.
RIP Sean.

He looked and sounded ill on '8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown' a little while ago.
A very very funny guy was Sean Lock and I was sad to hear this on the radio while in a shop today. A sad loss indeed.
RIP Sean, thanks for all the laughs you gave us.

I first came across him when he was the support act on the infamous Newman and Baddiel tour which included the first comedy show to play an arena but is more well-known for David Baddiel and Rob Newman hating each other and only speaking on stage. He was always funny on things like Live At The Apollo and "Cats Does Countdown", I was surprised to learn he left "Cats" in 2015 which I guess goes to show that in today's age of constant repeats across multiple channels people live forever through the medium of television.
There have been nothing but warm and fulsome tributes today about both his comedy and him personally. I also didn't know he had suffered with cancer when a much younger man, 58 is no age and I was very sad to read this news. RIP Sean

Very sad news today. His ‘Fifteen Storeys High’ is one of the finest comedies most people have never heard of. Which explains why there isn’t a thread on the TV page for it. When I have more time, I’ll create one.
RIP Sean

When I first saw his death reported on the BBC yesterday I could have sworn it said he was 59, not 58. Did anyone else see that or was I imagining it.

Only saw 58 but I’m not sure I saw it as soon as it was announced.
I always enjoyed seeing him on Cats and QI - a very funny man who didn’t go for the cheap laughs. Mark Lamarr was really emotional talking about him on the radio earlier and he was held in very high regard by his contemporaries. A very sad loss.
RIP.

I love Fifteen Storeys High - as someone said a comedy so dour and dead pan that even though it's filmed in colour it still looks black and white. The episode with Pierce Quigley as the truculent northern vicar always sticks in my mind, but so many classic moments in both series. Sean Lock was a comedy genius no doubt and while FSH may not have got the attention it deserved it's good that he received such acclaim for his stand-up.

A good solid Stand Up comic when he first became noticed on the scene 30 years ago who avoided the ubiquitous anti-thatcher rants that many of his contemporaries were still trotting out. I remember seeing an interview with him years ago where he spoke of suffering from skin cancer as a young man which was a result of excessive sunburn from when he used to work on building sites , it would appear that the poor man was prone to this dreadful scourge.
RIP Sir

A very funny man who I rated very highly and am so fortunate that I saw him live.
I remember him bringing up his cancer as part of his routine and it was good to here him talk about it like that and was shocked to read that it brought his life to an end when I saw it on the BBC on Wednesday. Like most others I never knew he was ill.
He appeared in a lot of things, but you never got sick of him, like you can with other comedians whose mugs you can see too much of on the TV and you knew if you saw him on something you would get a chuckle or three and it always sounded original. A lot of nice tributes paid to the man and not in the usual way we read when someone known dies our of respect, but I think it was a shock to so many.
Have to give 15 Storeys High another watch in tribute to him as was a gem of a comedy.
RIP Sean

RIP Sean Lock. He was a great comedian. That office yet fun image, he would appear with. Really got by your day.

I thought 15 Storeys High was brilliant when it was first shown. I've been watching it on the iPlayer, still think it is great.
