Sorry to hear this, I didn't know.
'Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head' is one of the great songs of its period, if not of all time, and I think B.J. Thomas did the definitive version. It is certainly better than the Sacha Distel version (which was actually the bigger UK hit).
He also had the first hit version of 'Hooked On A Feeling' which went into the USA top ten in 1969, though despite airplay in the UK this version didn't chart here (it went into the top 30 with a version by Jonathan King in 1971).
Another B.J. Thomas top ten hit in the USA was 'I Just Can't Help Believing' (1970) which Elvis took to the UK top ten the following year.
R.I.P. B.J. Thomas.

Raindrops always goes down a storm at gigs - no pun intended there either.
RIP BJ Thomas

He was one of a number of north American singers prominent as the 60s concluded and the 70s began, being particular to this distinct period.
Joe South, Tony Joe White and (at that time) Kenny Rogers were others, emulating what Elvis was doing in that period, e.g. drawing influence from several genres incl. country, folk, blues, soul and swamp (the latter as per Creedence Clearwater Revival).
They were very good records but this style dissolved into the wider soft rock genre from about 1971.
