This is a good episode and would of fitted in an earlier series imo

I'd argue that with the exception of 'Fatal Impression' the scripts in series 7 were probably better than those in series 6, certainly far funnier. I really like this episode. What series 6 has going for it is the mid 80s vibe. Eps like 'Arthur is Dead', 'From Fulham With Love' are way worse than series 7 for me. Meic Povey told me in the final series the number of pink pages (script amendments) were way higher than usual as you can read elsewhere on the forum maybe due to unnecessary interference from the script editor. If I were critical of series 7, apart from 'Fatal Impression' and 'Officer & Car Salesman' being weak I think it suffers from Terry not in a Capri, likely due to Dennis Waterman's driving ban. Series 7 is right up there for me. Great post, and agreed - I also forgot about the driving ban and wondered why you don’t see his Capri, or him driving!

Watched this last night and for me it's good but not up to excellent. There's all the banter, Dave (not John) doing some great Unchained Melody, some excellent characters and great moments as folks have already pointed out but it doesn't hang together as well as we know some episodes do. As in The Last Video Show, the guest stars get plenty of screen time but they don't cut it as well as in that episode, IMHO. Maybe I am addicted to the regular plod and missing them? No matter, most enjoyable and great to see two heavies knocked over by Carole Ashby - even if she was talking a bit funny!

Just watched this. Great fun! Strange how Dave insisted that Mick and Dez had to be members of the Winchester Club before they could be served but Maltese Tony and Imogen could be served straight away.
Quite interesting that Arthur chose the cheap infrared flood light system and got Terry to wire it up to the old fuse box. 5A circuit with dedicated fuse. Better than these cowboys that wire it into the lighting circuit these days.
The Shop Assistant was John Tordoff. The only other Tordoff I have heard of is the character Dave Tordoff by Graham Fellows (John Shuttleworth). I wonder if that's where he got the surname?

I think Dave wasn’t too keen on having them in the vicinity! Where as Maltese was more a friendly face and I couldn’t see him turning Imogen away!

Unfortunately for Terry he only had only a screwdriver to fix it into concrete, how the heck he got that fixed up I do not know!!

Excellent episode and a top performance from Don Henderson (did he ever disappoint?). Michael Kitchen is blinking marvellous as Maltese. Great character.
Very enjoyable. The Terry McCann era is going out on a high with this season.
