Below is an original Press Photograph (which I obtained on eBay). Written below, the words which can be found on the back of the above Press Photograph. Minder Wednesday 15 February 1984 9.00 - 10.00pm If Money Be the Food of Love, Play On Dee Rogers (Penny Downie) has flown in from Australia, to find her former lover, Gary Mitchell (Keith Bell), in Minder, tonight, written by Tony Hoare, and directed by Terry Green, when they parted in strained circumstances Down Under, and Gary flew back home to England, he had told Dee, that if she really loved him, she would follow and find him. Dee has a photograph of Gary with Arthur Daley, and heads for the Winchester Club, to locate Arthur, as Gary used to talk about him and the club, aware that Dee is carrying a considerable amount of cash, Arthur first sells her a fur coat, then rents Terry's flat to her for £80 a week, and manages to off-load a runabout car for £400 which she acquired from Freddy the Fly, for only £100, before he and Terry set about tracking down Gary. Terry (Dennis Waterman) fancies Dee, and Arthur (George Cole) is infatuated, but is she really in love with Gary Mitchell, or does she have an ulterior motive. Pictured: two Australian girls living in London, and successfully shoplifting in Oxford Street, played by Julianne White and Sally Tayler, in Thames Television's Minder - If Money Be the Food of Love, Play On.

I remember these two "Aussie hoisters" being a highlight of this episode for me when I first saw it. The episode is one of my favourites.

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet but fans of the original run of Midsomer Murders starring John Nettles will recognise Barry Jackson as the coroner, Dr George Bullard, whom he played from 1997-2012.
A totally different role than that of Mournful - who Barry plays with consummate skill!

Saw this for the fist time today. Quite good but not a great episode. Was totally unfamiliar with the character Carp although I recognised the actor's face.

A solid if unspectacular episode for me this one. There is still plenty to enjoy but it never reaches the dizzy heights of top league Minder. My favourite line has to be "I had a fox fur that Basil Brush would have changed his act for" in a brilliant scene at the Winchester - I would have liked to see Ronnie Aldridge return in other Minder episodes - he is a great character. Terry taking Dee to see the piano player in the pub was a fun scene. Nice showdown at the end of the episode and Arthur collapsing into Terry's arms after Greg fires the bullet through the window is hilarious. And lets be honest Sandra and Lisa are a definite highlight. 3.5 out of 5.

Always really liked this one. Arthur shows yet again how easy he is to get around when someone flatters him.

Terry taking Dee to see the piano player in the pub was a fun scene. That's what I always imagine a backstreet, locals only, London pub to be like. Good atmosphere, people know each other and a good old singsong going on

Did lots of london pubs have that sort of entertainment on during afternoons back then? I know in another earlier episode Arthur goes to a pub afternoon and Debbie is stripping

Yeah a lot of pubs used to have an act or band on at certain times.

cool but also sad as that tradition in Pubs around London and across the country has vanished now as well as thousands of pubs closing down. All you get now is either a band on a fri-sat night or a dj

All you get now is either a band on a fri-sat night or a dj Agreed azza. Pubs have lost their attraction but through no fault of their own imo. Having to wear masks, follow one way systems, not being allowed to mingle, rely on table service etc. etc. through the pandemic drained the very essence of the pub experience and I wonder if things will ever revert to what we once knew and enjoyed.

I see when Rycott and Carp are being ferried about in the Allegro, Rycott is sitting in the back with Carp in the passenger seat. Jack Regan wouldn't have settled for that. Obviously the policy in the Flying Squad didn't trickle down to Division.

Just one of the very best episodes. Some of Arthur’s dialogue and one liners are just hilarious. And a good story with a good mix of characters. Doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen this one but it still brings many a smile and chuckle.

Looks like Julianne White's still acting but her website is well out of date and she doesn't even mention Minder www.juliannewhite.com/biography.html. She married Mike Batt, the Wombling musician, in 1985. Sally Tayler seems to have stopped acting in the late '80s and has apparently become a psychotherapist.

Terry says he would emigrate to Australia if all the girls were as pretty as Dee. You do wonder if David Yallop picked up this passing comment when writing 'Loneliness'?

Obviously the policy in the Flying Squad didn't trickle down to Division. You think Regan would have settled for an Austin Allegro?
