Watching in sequence and it makes perfect sense! Have seen this one countless times (still got the vhs !) but still brilliant and so much going on. Terry loving it when Arthur lands in shumthing nasty. Oh dear 🤣 I like the dynamic when Debbie and Penny meet. Terry only too happy help showing he’s solid gold, one of the best. Thinking about it, Terry’s relationship with Penny was doomed as she was regularly in his ear about his future and being stitched up by Arthur.

Great episode. One of my favourites. The expression on Arthur's face when the 2 farmers start talking to him in the Winchester. Arthur suspecting a wind-up goes through a list of names on the manor who he thinks have put them up to it. His expression suddenly changes when they hand over an envelope as down payment. Pure slapstick in the countryside from Arthur & Terry.

I loved this episode having seen it last night I think for the first time. There is some classic Arthur in there, none more so when going on about the virtues of the countryside and the fresh air whilst puffing on a cigar. Then of course, when covered in dung going on about how he hates the countryside. The sun plot regarding Debbie and her mates is a little padding but it works well with Terry being back late from the rural areas and is unable to prevent Debbie getting a hiding. And of course Debbie revealing her assets is not to be sniffed at. I also loved the music playing when Debbie was performing and thanks for sourcing it. I have to say as well that having worked in that part of London in the 80s and then having been there in recent years it has changed immensely. The seediness of the area is well portrayed in this episode. Regarding Terry’s handling of the animal, I believe, but stand to be corrected that he had a farm when he was married to Rula Lenska. I cannot be certain as I was told this many years ago by someone who knew them and I am sure I was told they had a farm.

Debbie would have made a good long term bird for Terry, always in good form and ever so 'obliging' Penny was a snotty one, thought her arris was a perfume factory she did (we've all met them)

I wonder why Penny disappeared after series 2? Even Debbie continued into the third series... JB

Watched this today and enjoyed it. Nice to see the boys away from the smoke and apart from a brief vignette by a village bobby, no appearance from the boys in blue. Thought the sub-plot about the strippers was a bit incongruous, but nice to watch, anyway. Favourite part was Arthur's nervousness as they drove back to the farm - convinced that police were everywhere. I thought the muddy slapstick was a bit 'Carry On'. I assume that the traffic warden who looks in on Arthur as he's parked on a double yellow line outside the strip club was an uncredited extra.

The strip Club scenes were essential viewing and it's sad that Minder lost the annual near naked girls episode after the third series!!! JB

Im totally in the minority of one. I found this one of the worst episodes Ive ever seen only the 2nd rubbish rating ( which I was hesitant about) along with the Beryl Reid one.I"ll say no more and make myself scarce :-)

So, we're always moaning about ITV4 cutting scenes but watching this one yesterday on that channel i saw a scene that i don't ever recall seeing before, it isn't on my Clearvision set episode, i checked.
The way the episode has always run in my memory goes like this. Terry and Penny are in bed talking about Debbie being a stripper and then Penny tells Terry that how he earns a living is a constant wonder to her etc. etc. In my Clearvision set episode and every other showing I can remember watching, the next shot is of Arthur and Terry in the Jag on the way to the country and Terry telling Arthur that he looks ridiculous in his new clothes BUT on yesterdays showing there was a scene between the bedroom and the Jag where Arthur turns up at Terrys flat to collect him. Terry answers the door, looks at Penny, trying not to laugh and says "Arthur's here." Arthur then enters the flat and we see him in his country Gent outfit to which Penny sarcastically says something like, "You look fantastic!" The sarcasm goes right over Arthurs head as he replies, "I thought you'd like it.", then we see Arthur and Tel in the Jag.
I honestly don't remember seeing this scene before, is it on other dvd releases and has it been shown on the early TV transmissions?

Why would Clearvision have cut it. Unless there were music rights issues. Only thing I could think of.

Good spot Barry... I've just logged into the ITV Hub website for the first time in yonks and can't remember seeing that short scene before... Glad I'm not the only one Wynn. I must have watched the episode over twenty times either on 'Gold' in the 90s, ITV repeats in the 80s, on the Clearvision dvd and over the past few years on ITV4 and I'm certain I've never seen the bit i described in any showing.

I don't think there's any music playing McC, just three or four short lines between Arthur, Terry and Penny. As I've said, i don't think it's just left out of the Clearvision dvd, i don't remember seeing it at all.

Its omission on the Clearvision DVD just doesn't make any sense... I did wonder if its proximity to the advert break was a reason, but for the life of me I just can't see why. I'd imagine that it appears on the Australian DVD's though, but I've not got those to compare... Going off on a tangent of sorts, its strange because I remember watching one of the early Minder videos back in the 90's and I'm sure there was a scene on another early EP that I've not seen on any of the DVD's... looks like I'll have to check out the ITV EPs just in case...

Its omission from previous ITV4 airings, at least the ones I've watched, doesn't make sense either. What's changed to include it this time around? There could be others, who knows? Someone with the Australian boxset may be able to shed some light.

This is the scene, a very short one, and it is on the Australian DVD sets. It's the first thing you see straight after the Part Two ad cap at 17m17s. Terry says "Arthur's here" and opens the door, Penny says "Wow!" and Arthur walks in and does indeed say "Thought you'd like it." The script also includes this scene but Arthur's line has clearly been added or ad-libbed by GC. Penny is NOT at the sink, she is fixing some flowers. Hope this helps.

I sort of recall this scene now from my tape recordings when TV3 in Ireland showed the series pretty much uncut from 98-03. I haven't been near any tapes in 20 years since getting the Clearvision and Network dvds. But it rings a bell when you mention it. I know the 'Nowhere Man' scene in Dreamhouse was shown on those broadcasts and that's the number 1 scene that'll be cut.

Thanks for sorting that jno Why can't I remember ever seeing this snippet before? Why has it been omitted up until now from the ITV repeats, UKGold and ITV4 showings and why was it not on the Clearvision offering? Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? I can only assume it was cut for 'some reason' by Clearvision and likely the ITV prints are somehow related or influenced by that. Perhaps it was such a small scene that they thought no one would realise? I really have no idea. It only lasts a few seconds.

The missing scene is in a copy of the episode on YT (at the 16 min point). I suspect it was cut because it follows the ad break and the music from the ad cap is still playing quite loud when the first line is spoken. Since Clearvision removed all the ad caps they must have decided to cut the scene rather than have either loud music as the scene starts or lose the start of the scene to reduce the impact of the music.

That'll be it. Of course in hindsight Clearvision could have just left the adcaps in like Network did on many of their releases.

Most odd, to cut an inoffensive scene, while leaving Debbie and her pals baring all, we even see Penny's bristols, albeit a side view in the semi darkness in Tel's bedroom.

I don't recall seeing this scene. I watched this episode a couple of months back and I only remember the music playing over Arthur being kitted out in the shop then the sequence in the Jag when Tel compliments Arthur on his country schumutter. It's the Network DVDs I have and I don't think the scene in Terry's flat is on my Bronze Age videos either. It's sheer cheek to make certain edits. Sorry, I was thinking there of Debbie and the cab on bricks episode.
