Sad indeed, looks like 3 of us all posted at the same time, I've deleted mine as this one was first. Used to love watching Super Market Sweep back in the day.

www.BBC.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-43818226I met him once about 14 years ago in the maddest 5 minutes of celebrity spotting I’ve ever had. He parked his Bentley GT (eventually, after about a dozen attempts, no exaggeration) registration DW15, in Marylebone High Street and as he got out he told me hated parking the thing and I jokingly said I’d park it for him so we got chatting about cars. Almost immediately, Barbara Windsor comes tottering down the street and joins us. I make my excuses and leave them chatting only to bump (literally) into Noel Gallagher outside Waitrose. Always had a lot of time for Dale since that day. He was very down to earth. RIP, 62 is no age at all.

I don't usually like camp in-your-face TV hosts, but I did like Dale. Seemed a very likeable person. Never flustered or over the top, a proper game show host. If you're unsure, watch Alan Carr, and think the complete opposite.......you'll get Dale Winton. RIP

Shocked to hear this. I loved Supermarket Sweep back in the day, as it was usually on when I got back home after an early shift at the Bakery and I used to listen to him do Pick of the Pops on Radio 2 Sunday afternoons a few years ago.
62 is no age.
RIP Dale

I think Dale stood out because he actually cared about the contestants unlike some other gameshow hosts (that I won't mention). His interaction with them seemed so genuine and totally sincere.

I thought he would have been the ideal host for the recent Generation Game reboot instead of the car crash that was Mel and Sue.

I thought he would have been the ideal host for the recent Generation Game reboot instead of the car crash that was Mel and Sue. Scary you should say that. We watched the latest reboot of Generation Game, and it was dire. Really dire. My wife said they need another Larry Grayson type host. I said "Not bloody* Paul O Grady!" She said "No, someone like Dale Winton like when he hosted Hole in the Wall" Then she said she'd not seen him on TV in ages. *it was something stronger. A lot stronger.

A sad loss , he was a master of camp innuendo generally with a twinkle in his eye and a knowing look to camera. It's a shame that some of the shows written for him were complete dross because i feel that with quality material his tenure in TV would have been far greater (and longer)
RIP Sir

He was an under rated radio presenter. He did Pick Of The Pops proud yearsago, I thought he was the best presenter since Fluff Freeman.

I didn't watch his TV shows, though I remember 'Supermarket Sweep', which would be on when e.g. I was on a break at work.
I also remember the song 'In Betweener' by Sleeper (1995) having its video based on this show, and Dale appeared in it.
Away from TV I knew him as a good host of Radio Two 'Pick of the Pops', for quite a long period.
R.I.P. Dale Winton.

Mrs jno watched his last series where he went around the US, he died after the first one (I think of 3) was broadcast. He came across as a real genuine sort on there - if you have catchup in the UK, it was on Channel 5.
RIP Dale

I think Dale was one of the great guys in showbiz. His natural charm and the way he engaged with the contestants was an absolute joy to watch. Lovely genuine chap and so incredibly sad he was only 62. That is way too young.
Dale was a born natural entertainer. A great sense of humour and his facial expressions while the camera was focused on him were hilarious especially when some idiot of a contestant had given a really stupid answer.
In a lot of ways Dale reminds me of Brucie in his prime. Both born to be on stage doing a wonderful job.

I've read what they are saying about him as mentioned. It is nice to know that he died naturally. I really believe that everyone who had the luck to meet Dale really liked him. None of my mates in the quizzing community met him. Yeah, I would think he was a really great television personality during the broadcast. Something different for the television among the actors, actresses and athletes. I nice change from the television screens and companies.

I personally think Dale's sudden death has been one of the saddest moments this year. He was a class act.
