For me, the top two would definitely be Errol Flynn and Richard Greene, I have now seen all 143 episodes of the 1950s series (starring Richard Greene), The Adventures of Robin Hood.
I think Errol Flynn, must have been the first Robin Hood, I ever saw on TV, no one will ever surpass Errol's performance as Robin, in the classic 1938 film The Adventures of Robin Hood.
Not far behind Richard Greene, would be Richard Todd, Michael Praed and Barrie Ingham.
The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men (1952), is one of my favourite Disney films.
Michael Praed, was definitely the best of the two Robin's, in the classic 1980s TV series Robin of Sherwood.
I have always liked Barrie Ingham's, performance as Robin, in the 1967 Hammer film A Challenge for Robin Hood, even though he wore a toupee, in the film.

Barrie Ingham - me predicts rug patrol. I have to confess I can't vote for this one as my knowledge of Robin Hood guises is about as good Kung fu movies i.e. zilch.

Where's Martin Potter?
Come to think of it where's the Fox out of Disney's Robin Hood?

I voted for Praed and Bergin, just because I wanted to be contrary.
I really like Robin of Sherwood (so went for Praed immediately!) and although I've only ever seen it once, when it first came out, I seem to remember enjoying the Patrick Bergin Robin Hood film quite a lot.
Errol, quite rightfully, will run away with this I bet.

Robin Hood films, the oldest are the best..... couldn't stand Costner or Crowe in anything, and trying to add their fake drama to the role added nothing and took away a lot of the magic

I have always thought that the Robin Hood film (starring Patrick Bergin), was better than Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (starring Kevin Costner), which was released the same year.
I must confess, that I have never seen the Robin Hood film (starring Russell Crowe).
I do like Sean Connery, in the role of Robin Hood, but always find, the end of Robin and Marian, difficult to watch.

I voted for Flynn and Greene.
The Costner and Crowe films should be used as target practice by any future Robin Hood actors when they are learning how to use a bow.

Where's Martin Potter? Come to think of it where's the Fox out of Disney's Robin Hood? I have seen all six episodes of the 1970s TV Mini-Series The Legend of Robin Hood, Martin Potter, was very good in the role of Robin.
Some other Robin Hood's, which haven't yet been mentioned on this Thread - John Derek - Rogues of Sherwood Forest (1950), Don Taylor - The Men of Sherwood Forest (1954) and David Warbeck - Wolfshead: The Legend of Robin Hood (1969).
The last two films, mentioned above, were both Hammer films, the last one being a more realistic version of the Robin Hood legend.
There were two bloopers in the 1967 Hammer film, A Challenge for Robin Hood, a vapour trail, could be seen in the sky, at the start of the opening titles, and in a scene (later on in the film), a car could be seen, driving past, in the distance.

Barrie Ingham ... There is so much rug chat on here I am thinking of introducing an rug-free chat day once a year to give those with a wig on the day off. I have to say, the car driving past is pretty funny though - I'm surprised this got through - next on Robin's list of things to save is... the environment.

Come to think of it where's the Fox out of Disney's Robin Hood? I voted for him in the "other" category. I also gave Costner my vote because the film doesn't take itself too seriously and is at least entertaining (which the BBC series with Jonas Armstrong never managed). The Richard Carpenter series is the best written version of the legend but I don't reckon much to Michael Praed or Jason Connery as actors. John Cleese in Time Bandits worth a mention perhaps?

And while we're at it, Robin Hood:Men in Tights Does Carey Elwes of "Robin Hood Men In Tights" count? Only if George Segal does from The Zany Adventures of Robin Hood.

I'd have to go with Michael Praed, as that the one I watched as a kid, even though Herne the hunter used to terrify me. Costner is my 2nd, as I do love the film, saw it at the cinema first time round and enjoy watching it when its on TV.

I went with Kevin Costner and other for Matthew Porretta from the New Adventures of Robin Hood. And if we ever have a Maid Marion death match, his sidekick in that show, Anna Galvin, wins the best Marion very easily.

I think we should replay this Death Match and include the Robin from Maid Marian And Her Merry Men (1989-1994)

You haven't seen a single film with Robin Hood in it!?! That is correct. I cannot believe that Karin.. Honestly I can't. Is there a particular reason? Like maybe you don't like to see acts of terrorism and guerrilla warfare, aimed at state officials and lawful taxation regulations, being romantically and fondly looked upon within a 13th century setting. Or is it just because it's not popular down under? I'm staggered by that. I wouldn't have thought there'd have been a single person on the planet, who hadn't seen Robin Hood in one shape or form.

I'm sure plenty of Aussies with a sense of obligation to support Aussie/Kiwi actors sat watching Rusty Crowe run around the forest. Hmm let's see how can I put this. Well I just never saw the need.

Not that fussed on Robin Hood but I like Richard Greene and I think this was the version that prompted Britains to issue Robin Hood figures that are today highly collectable.
