Lots of songs I like but I have to go for 'Tin Soldier'.

Wow! Thanks jno. You don't mess about. I heard All Or Nothing on the radio yesterday and thought it would make a great death match., although I now think there's a runaway winner, which was my choice also.
I'd like to give a special mention to the B side of Itchycoo Park...

I went for Tin Soldier a smidge ahead of All Or Nothing although any of them is fine by me.

I wish there wasn't such a big problem with their back catalogue so we could get more deluxe box sets. The last one was fantastic but wasn't even available officially in this country which, quite frankly, is ludicrous.

'I'm Only Dreaming'. It's an amazing song.
I know number 1's aren't a measure of quality but it must have been a great day when All Or Nothing hit number 1 in September 1966.
Weird to think Steve Marriott didn't think his voice was that good, hence he only sang half the songs on the 2nd album.

There was a deluxe edition of The Autumn Stone put together a couple of years ago but hasn't seen the light of day (and according to someone who worked on it, it never will either because of the label dispute) so there's still some stuff out there, albeit different mixes, mono/stereo etc. I'll try and post up some images of that magnificent box set from 3 years ago when I get a moment. It really was a work of art.

I voted tactically for Afterglow because the b side Wham Bam Thank You Man (alternate stereo take) is outstanding - Townshend'esque power chords & feedback, heavy rock/soul in a proto Led Zeppelin mould - turn it up to 11 , slip on your loafers , push back the sofa and groove around yer house !

Now's a great time to learn! Hear, Hear! One of the truly great British bands of any era. Steve Marriott's singing is beyond words. yes, I started with the one with the most votes, Tin Soldier, and it is a good song.

Good man!
You next need to check out All Or Nothing and I'm Only Dreaming (the latter is on one of my posts above)

This was very difficult to choose, but I went for 'Tin Soldier' because of its outstanding intro. Unfortunately, this song suffered a bit from the limitations in early stereo sound. It starts off good but as it gets going it sounds a bit muddy. If it had been recorded just 2-3 years later I suspect it would have sounded sharper.

Steve Marriott would have been 70 today (30 Jan). I'm sure he'd have had a great celebration. A great man, RIP.

Yes, got that and The Hollies one, both excellent documentaries.
We're lucky that the Small Faces Colour Me Pop still exists. I think a lot of the others were wiped.
