Congrats on the new cat plasticpenguin. Also Misty is very cute looking. I have a cat called Rocky. He had a rough start as when he was about 8 months old he got bitten by a tiger snake. I think he must have just thought it was something fun to play with. Luckily he decided to come home immediately and I could tell what had happened. He just flopped on the ground tired and he looked dazed in the eyes. Normally he was jumping off the walls with energy so a quick visit to the vet, anti venom and an anxious 24 hour wait. He recovered completely but it took many weeks until his muscles recovered from the venom. That was last year. This year he decided to eat a spider and it bit him inside his mouth ! A swollen cheek and another trip to the vet. This little guy is unbelievable. I'm glad we're not near croc country ! I made him and previous pet cat stay inside for the first six months. I wanted them to associate the inside with home. It worked with the first cat but not with Rocky ! Even the dog is a bit nervous around him. We don't any real venomous snakes in damp, chilly England other than an Adder, but if you keep away from grassy commons they are harmless. The biggest issue we have here are rather over-zealous frogs. It's true, it's quite common, during the summer, to see a frog hopping and croaking along the skirting boards

I do like Dogs, but Cats are definitely my favourite animal, three Cats, lived in my home (not all at the same time), in the past, our first Cat, was called Shandy, then we had two more Cats, and they were called Mollie and Ollie, I have got photographs of all three Cats (who lived in my home in the past), on my computer, I have encountered some friendly Dogs, over the years, this Thread has reminded me of some films, which I have got (on DVD), which feature animals.

My Mum used to take in every stray animal in our area and we had both cats and dogs as well as fish, birds, mice, gerbils and hamsters when growing up, but surprisingly I have never been much of an animal lover.

By stray, I mean folk that were getting rid of their animals, or just animals that just hung around the area, there were lots of them when I was a kid and my mum always took them in and that included a goldfish in a bowl and a tank full of tropical fish, even though she hardly had enough money to feed her family, but she always managed. We even ended up with a duck once, which was fun! We stayed very close to the River Dee and she would often find people putting dogs and cats in sacks full of stones to throw in the water and I am sure she wore a cloak and managed to save them all, it certainly appeared to be the case.

No, the man from the RSPB came the next day for the duck. It was intersting at times with all the animals and we used to get hacked off when the animals were eating the best of food and we were on beans and toast.

If I was in your position I might have been weak and tried to eat the duck, before it won me over with it's cute tail waggling and comedic honks and quacks.. And if the man from the RSPB said anything about the missing duck the next day, I might have eaten him him too. Depends on how hungry I was.. That's the kind of b*****d I am

Cat, everytime.
Dogs poo everywhere and need full-time attention.
Cats sleep, bury their poo and can look after themselves.

I loved this as a kid but always felt sorry for the humans - they did what they had to (sometimes) and thought Hobo would be theirs and stay with them - backs turned and off he went. Sad, I thought...

She is lovely, too. I had a cat jist like her but more black on her nose. She was a rescue (from the neighbours) cat called Sparky. She had a sister called Pickles and I think the neighbours got rid of her through nefarious means. They were a human-to-cat version of Fred and Rose West... Sparky was a madam and spoilt rotten...

They sound like ****s. Did they use an electric chair on old Sparky?

Shandy was indeed a lovely Cat, I can still remember Shandy, laying on my lap, and also laying down on the back of my legs, when I used to read Comics, on the floor. By the way, Shandy was a he Cat.
