Voted for Travelodge. Not stayed at any but I dislike the word Premier associated with any business. Usually it means they far from premier.

Not sure if you have them in the UK but Hilton Doubltree or Hampton Inn are usually my choices when on business.

I've stayed several times at Leonardo Hotels in Germany, and they're generally very good for similar money to a Premier Inn which IMO is overpriced for what it is. I've also stayed at Hampton Inns and many other chains in the US and to be honest in most towns you've got a choice of good-value motels/hotels. Days Inn, Hilton Doubletree, Holiday Inn and so on. I've also experienced most French chains such as Campanile, Ibis (not keen on the budget variety with the plastic showers), even Formule 1 with its shared bathrooms and they tend to be plentiful by the side of the motorway and decent.
Didn't Premier Inn also used to be Travel Inn and merged to become PTI then just Premier Inn, or have I got that wrong?
When I had a 'real' job and used to stay places on business we always referred to the Travelodge as "Shittylodge" but to be fair the standard depends massively on the hotel - the new ones tend to be nice and the old ones horrible. That said, some of the old Premier Inns are also pretty rank, and back when you could smoke in pubs having your fry-up in the boozer where everyone had been smoking 8 hours before was never a pleasant experience and that put me right off using them for years.
Come to think of it I've stayed in a lot of hotels over the years!! Started off as a novelty, that soon wore off.
