Another part of my childhood gone as I remember watching the 1981 Ashes series especially the Headingley Test with Bob tearing into the Australian batsmen.

He was in one of my favourite foreign films 'Soldier Of Orange'. It was the true story of Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema who was a Dutch resistance fighter, RAF pilot and later assistant to the Dutch Queen Wilhelmina in exile in London during WW2.

The film I always remember Bryan most for is 'The Spy Who Loved Me'. I have no idea why that is so. I think he got that role because he played a Navy Commander in the BBC series 'Warship' the previous year. I remember him in the 1980 TV series 'Buccaneer' which also starred Shirley Anne Field, Pamela Salem and Clifford Rose. His character was called Tony Blair!

Good actor who was memorable in every role he played. My mum was a big fan of his.

He had some great lines in B7- one I remember was when he’s asked “don’t you get bored with being right all the time” “No - only with the rest of you being wrong” Another good line was in the final episode when Dayna said Servalan had no reason to lie about Blake being dead. Avon said she doesn't need a reason to lie as it comes naturally to her like breathing.

Avon was my favourite TV character at the time. Paul Darrow was great at playing him.
