I enjoyed this episode the most of what I've seen so far. I think it's the best all around of the four I've watched. Compared to the others I voted this one Excellent. It may not be fair to compare it to the original series but I felt it came the closest to the spirit of the old show. The humor is good and never seems forced which is something I admire and appreciate about Minder. Archie's "artwork" is wonderfully deranged. His use of Action Man heads was laugh out loud funny. If all the episodes of new Minder had been this good perhaps it would have had a chance at a longer run.

....I thought that Maureen Lipman was on old school Minder. Nope, but she was in a whole host of British Telecom (BT) adverts in the 1980s, all over the TV at the time original 'Minder' was on, playing the very memorable character called Beatrice 'Beatie' Bellman. No doubt she appeared in an original ad break when Minder was on, so that almost counts! She was also of course in The Sweeney episode 'Selected Target'. I think she's a great actress and does a superb job in this episode of Minder.

I thought it was a nice re-hash put together for a typical art heist episode. Worth watching. Does have some classic Minder elements like that silly police chase which are usually found in the past Minder shows.

It's nice to see at least two positive remarks about this one. I would also like to add that I thought this one was good - the ice cream van chase is a bit of a carry on but nevertheless an enjoyable story. The reference to 'Banksy' brought it bang up-to-date and the silliness of Maureen Lipman is quite a memorable feature.

The ice cream van chase is a bit far fetched.but on the whole a great episode.

Series 11 (1) - Episode 3 - 'The Art of the Matter'Three episodes in and the 'new' Minder really seems to have found the sweet spot. This is an episode that sails by and ends before you want it to, which is always a good sign. Both Shane Richie and Lex Shrapnel seem to be completely at ease with their characters by this point and the chemistry between them is working nicely. The plot is fun and not a million miles from 'classic' Minder and - aside from the incessant incidental music which I could do without for the most part - the episode is highly enjoyable. There's some great names and nice performances among the cast, notably Maureen Lipman, who gives Archie as good as he gets, and Nickolas Grace (the greatest Sheriff of Nottingham of all time!). Rory Kinnear is also excellent as Willoughby. I just wish the excellent Josette Simon was given more to do. One thing that really chimed with me was the use of the gallery music from Vision On when we were afforded a visual tour of The Daley Gallery's bizarre exhibits (which were very funny in themselves). Cracking choice. All told, an excellent episode (indeed my first Excellent rating for this revived series). Definitely the best I've seen so far. Three to go!

I was pleasantly surprised. Maureen Lipman did indeed lift this up but what was best was the story line - Archie stumbles onto something he thinks is worth a fortune, gets scammed by a scammer, thinks he can sell better than a professional seller, with a couple of bonkers but nevertheless believable plot twists what with the councillor buying the piece after Archie and Jamie outbid each other, Willoughby thinking Archie is Picasso and the lady dealer twice nearly stealing the piece in the grown-up gallery. And the Vison On muzak - brilliant touch! The car chase was silly and annoying - okay the cab was credible but not the ice cream van. And the ludicrous art gallery pieces were silly as well but Arthur would have tried it so why not Archie?
This hurts but I'm going to give it a Good.

Here's a good one for you.
Today, we are further away in time from the end of the Archie Daley series (March 11 2009), than the start of the Archie series (Feb 4 2009) was from the end of Minder series 10 (March 10 1994)

This hurts but I'm going to give it a Good. Houston, we might have a fan. P.S. I also voted this one as 'Good'.

A series too far. Calling it Minder? - they should have been done under the Trades Description Act.

A series too far. Calling it Minder? - they should have been done under the Trades Description Act. Well, I'd agree with you on the first two episodes but the third one was up there, IMHO. As Meat Loaf didn't say, one out of three isn't very good, is it?
