Laughed at Arthur trying to impress that lady in the high rise with the Corvette Stingray and some tatty flowers. She wasn't having it!

Big Bri - the actor is listed in IMDB as having been in 4 Minder episodes (Pelmet, Rembrandt and Dream House as well as Arrow) and the only other thing he’s listed in is Clockwork Orange! An odd CV!

Press photo for 'Broken Arrow': He looks different there to how he appears in the episode. Got to be honest, I wouldn't have recognised him.

Glad it's not my eyesight. Not something I can do but I'd like to see a screenshot from the episode side by side with the photo above. Maybe this was taken before filming had started without make-up etc.

The controversy over prize money at this year's British Darts Organisation tournament reminds me of this episode. Visions of five pound notes being ironed behind the scenes at the O2.

Could only give this an average rating I'm afraid.
A shame, I remember it being better but found it very disjointed this time around; the lady who was the caose of Arthur losing the car wheels had a very odd role. I'm not entirely sure how she fitted in, it was never properly explained. The slightly bumbling and bemused aspect of her character, forgetting little things led me to believe she was going to play a significant part in the episode, but then she just disappeared. If the only reason for her being there was to provide a backdrop for the stripping of the car, it seemed un-necessary and could have been worked in better. (and did Arthur have designs on her, or was he after an earner? he turned up with flowers, but then didn't really seem to be pushing it, and if she had money surely she'd have been worked back in at the end when Arthur was scrounging around for loans?)
Also, the 'thugs' in the south London darts tournament were unconvincing, the accent on the guy who turned up was embarrassingly overdone and scarcely believable.
But, the ending wasn't too bad, there was some nice exchanges in it , although I also couldn't see how Arthur had managed to solve all his problems with one bet.
It's funny how you remember some episodes being better than they turn out to be, or episodes you think were pretty weak back in the day turn out to be little gems.
'Poetic Justice, innit?' next; that can't disappoint ... surely?

'Poetic Justice, innit?' next; that can't disappoint ... surely? It’s the best episode of all! Didn't disappoint at all! Certainly a contender for best episode, 5 stars no bother but nestles just behind 'Another Bride, Another Groom' in my overall ratings. You'd struggle to get a cigarette paper between them though...

Back to 'Broken Arrow' and I agree with logie, the whole flat affair with Arthur doesn't sit right in this episode. At a guess, I'd say this has to be something to do with why this episode needed extra filming later on - all supposition of course.

This may be the episode I've watched most of all as it was one of only a couple I recorded off air in the 80s.
So how can it be that today is the first time I've noticed the poster for Arthur's darts tournament says 'TOE THE HOCKEY' rather than 'OCHE'?

Just watched this again on ITV4.Always enjoy it but as others have pointed out,the maths seem all over the place, even at the start when Wally talks about 5 ton to fix up the Granny....the door, wing, inner wing,a pillar and roof are gone for starters plus any damage to the suspension / running gear.Lol

I also couldn't see how Arthur had managed to solve all his problems with one bet. I agree logie. I think I posted earlier in the thread that no matter how many times I watch this one, Arthurs joy at the end just doesn't add up. I can't remember the figures but I know that after working it out several times, Arthur barely breaks even.

For some reason Broken Arrow doesn't reach the giddy heights of my favourite series three episodes. It's hard to put my finger on why, it just feels a little disjointed to me. As always though there is plenty to enjoy in every episode, not least the beating Terry dishes out to the south London gangsters after cutting up Dafydd's hand. And Arthur climbing into that Stingray and working out the controls is priceless. So although I don't have as much love for this episode as some other fans it is still well worth a watch. 3.5 out of 5.

I like the bit when there’s a bit of ag outside the gents and once Arthur realises whats going on, for once there’s no messing around, he ushers Dafid out the club whilst Terry holds them at bay.

Arthur protecting his investment, usually it would have been back into the toilets and lock himself in a cubicle

Enjoyed this one today, plenty of funny moments, I particularly liked
- Arthur in the Corvette ‘Wally it won’t start....’ - Arthur sat on Sherry’s sofa with that funny plant thing tickling his ear, very clever physical comedy whether intentional or ad lib - Terry telling Arthur ‘what you know about darts you could write on the back of a stamp’, Arthur’s comeback ‘what anyone knows about darts you could write on the back of a stamp’ - Arthur persuading Dafyd to play in the tournament ‘darts is sophisticated now, its on BBC2’ and then the raised eyebrows, superb - Dave grumbling about how the new fruit machine hasn’t paid out and the members are getting suspicious, again the look Arthur gives him, as if to say ‘and that’s a problem how exactly?’ is perfect. Doesn’t need to say a word. The look is everything. - moaning that the wedge Terry gave to the prize fund looked like the dog had been at it - and of course, ‘seven tenners and a toilet roll!’
So plenty to laugh at and really demonstrates that many of Arthur’s magic moments do not involve dialogue.
Oh and Tel finished a lager in this one! A rare occurrence indeed.

Great points bmw, particularly about Arthur raising his eyebrows to Daffyd and the look he gives Dave about the fruit machine not paying out. These traits are used numerous times throughout the series and are far funnier than any dialogue that could have been scripted. GC carried it off perfectly.

I have the director script for this ep...it was difficult to finalize….loads of pink overwrites. And some ad libs not on the script eg. at the hospital where Arthur getting his coffee from the machine says..."someone up there loves me"..." and Terrys remark "well that's just as well, cos no one down here does" was not scripted.

Roy Ward Baker mentions in his memoirs that one of the episodes of Minder he directed was "an absolute dog" or some such. This one then, d'you think?

But technically, at least from the scripting aspect, Broken Arrow looked very difficult and took a lot of re-writes to film. Cheers VAT

Talking Pictures TV has been repeating the offbeat 80s detective serial 'Bognor' in the small hours (not about the seaside resort but a slightly contrived set-up involving an investigator for the DTI).
The reason for mentioning it here is that a scene in this morning's episode included the 50s style rock-n-roll music that is playing when Terry first meets Ted Turton. It's playing in a scene when Bognor meets someone in a cafe - it's the only other time I've heard it. I assume it's library music.
And on the subject of 'Bognor' and Ted Turton, Edward Peel was in the first story, set in a priory, that has just finished. Also, Micky The Fish was in this morning's as a football obsessed CID officer.
