Utterly brilliant! 5/5. A trip to the country- a bit like "National Pelmet" - but better!

I always remember this one , as a fun episode to watch . Any one with Arthur falling in the mud , gets high marks Yes , I can never recall the strip club scenes being as long , as they are on the box set editions . Even ITV in the 1980s had the hacksaw out on this one - Its amazing how many early editions , featured strip clubs , ! - I always think the flashing sign , outside the The Winchester , in this series , makes it look a bit seedy I would guess the scenes of Arthur & Terry in the countryside , were filmed around January / February time , as it certainly looks very wintry It looks like they sourced the Bedford TK cattle truck , locally , as it carries a KJ Kent/Maidstone registration mark & a company name has been blanked out on the cab doors The Rolls Royce belonging to the farmers , is the same one from "All Mod Cons" A definite 8/10 for this one

No idea but my brother lives in Westerham, will have a most around the next time I'm around his way.

'Sod the country code!' that line from Arthur made me laugh out loud. Of course he had been covered in mud but coming minutes after he was waxing poetic about the glorious English countryside makes it amusing.
This is a top episode with enough great moments and dialogue for two episodes. I like the sub-plot of Terry helping the strippers and giving the creep what he deserved.

There's a lot in this episode that is good but I never really enjoy seeing muddy slapstick so I wouldn't rate it as excellent.

I will disagree with you on that one gustav, for me GC does this to perfection - granted, it is a marginal slapstick but certainly played out excellently by our two leads. I think the idea of 'stealing a bull' is quite unique too, I don't recall where farm animals get pinched in other film and tv I've seen from memory.

It is a really good episode and it's good to see a change of location with an interesting and unusual storyline. I agree also that Dennis and George handle the whole thing pretty well perfectly - but -for me - this is the difference between a good episode and an excellent one because a shot of a car driving into a muddy field always leads to someone getting covered in mud. It is a bit of a television cliche and could just as well be On the Buses as Minder. It is probably also well integrated into the story but its just something that irks me a bit. I would add again that I am not suggesting it spoils the episode, it's still good.

I don't know what to say about how the episodes were transmission. They really covered the transmissions well to say at least and they really covered that up. Nice episode. I was interested with those gates at the back of the lorry actually, how they extend out and get angled because gravity works with it. I've never seen anything like that.

This episode is a classic absolutely hilarious when Arthur's in the field and keeps losing his footing I loved how Arthur, all doled up in his posh gear falls over in the horrible old mud and also how Terry finds out Arthur has been fiddling him money wise in the venture oh and the gorgeous Diana Malin also brings a smile! ITV have missed this one out as well. Probably due to the strip club scenes? Shame...another ep probably lost forever to main stream TV (along with Whose Wife....)

If ITV4 have dropped this it is a very recent decision. It's been shown quite a number of times by them.

I remember seeing this years back and Debbie's stripping scenes were all trimmed right down and most of the delicious bits had been cut altogether! JB

Caught this one on ITV4 this week and a couple of things that have escaped me in the past came to light.
When Arthur turns up at Terrys flat to have a chat about the Bull job, Debbie is there and she reminds Arthur that they have, "met 'round here once before",( when she wasn't as warmly dressed) obviously referring to 'Come In T-64 Your Time Is Up'. But when they met in that episode it wasn't 'round here, it was a different flat altogether.
Also, after visiting Debbie in hospital and seeing the condition she was in, I thought Terry would have given the 'ponce' a proper good kicking rather than than just one good punch in the balls - he deserved much more.

Yet another episode I enjoy more each time I watch it.
Maybe because I'm American and cattle rustling is such a staple of Westerns it makes watching an English TV show dealing with the topic highly amusing and entertaining. It's so unexpected. Then again, I'm sure non-American Forum members find the episode just as amusing and entertaining as I do.

Love the line "smell that country air" as he puffs on the cigar on the drive to the bull

My observations as follows:
1. Great to see Terry stick up for himself and not divvy up the £200 for sorting the stalker 2. Did I miss it but what was the back story with the stalker, if there is one. 3. Debbie's mate Maggie had some lunch on her, Gordon Bennett!
Very good episode but I feel the Debbie/stalker story is used to fill out the episode.

Still one of the episodes I'll make a point of watching. Arthur being Arthur thinks about the money first and the consequences later.
The location is on the M25 and the nearby village of Godstone. You see them drive up the A22. I would guess the farm scenes were shot nearby.
9/10

2. Did I miss it but what was the back story with the stalker, if there is one. Debbie works as a stripper which the stalker seems to think means she'll also work as a brass. He likes the look of her and wants her to work for him, as a brass, which she continually refuses to do so he eventually beats her up.

Just about stacks up as a plot I suppose.

I love this one. Even though it’s a bit padded out, with the Debbie plot, the scenes of Arthur in the country are a joy. But I constantly wonder how the bull scenes were shot. That is definitely Dennis up close to it when it rears up!

I constantly wonder how the bull scenes were shot. That is definitely Dennis up close to it when it rears up! I reckon the bulls owners/handlers would have been very close by, like standing behind the camera, ready to jump in if things got a bit tricky. They would have been prompting DW, giving instructions as the scenes were being filmed would be my guess There's no way a cast and crew who were inexperienced in handling an animal like would be left to their own devices.

Yes I do notice that we don’t ever the see the back end of bull in those scenes so I imagine the owner is very close by. Still looks scary though!
