Daniel Deronda is a romantic drama based on the the Victorian novel of the same name. It's about a character named Daniel Deronda who finds out about himself, he stops a girl from commiting suicide from drowning named Mirah and finds out she's Jewish. Trying to help her, he enters a place where Jews want him to accept who they are. The side story is about a female named Gwendolen. She suffers alot of misforture during the story, losing a huge amount of winnings from the start of the story from gambling to marrying a guy who mistreats her during the marriage.
Nicholas Day plays a character named Lord Brackenshaw. It is a very minor character in the show. I don't even think his name is even mentioned in the show, so maybe there are fans of the novel would know who he's trying to portray. He is first seen leading a group, fox hunting from the start of the show which Gwendolen takes part in.
He does appear in one of the later episodes, in Part 2 around the 27 minute mark (or part 3 if you make the first episode into two parts as it could be made into 1 hr 30 mins long) but very briefly on the bottom right of the screenshot I've taken here. I hadn't find him in the last episode which he has been credited for but I'll find him if I can. I just saw the show on Netflix, so I was lucky enough to watch the show and see him. I think they use this character just to fill the scene like an extra after a while. The show isn't that bad. Has a good story, not great but is it a bit predictable. I would say the show clearly heads towards the good production side then just tell a good story.
I actually watched the entire scene again where he was active early in the show. Personally, I can't get over this scene after I focused my attention on it and there are many scenes which I thought were great. The scene is very busy. Gwen felt like she wasn't getting enough thrills in her life, so she joins the fox hunt. The guy she was with in the scene introduces her to the hunting event but he doesn't get involved and sits back. When Day's character offers her to take part, she accepts and she rides along. The guy she's with gets concerned and chases after her but he has an untrained horse who can't jump over fences and is left out.
There's Gwen beginning to take part in the scene. I know it's blurred but the action of the horses move very fast.
Towards the end of the scene, Day's character congrats Gwen on getting a fox...
See Gwen with blood on her. Maybe from the hounds ripping into foxes with her watching and having some of that blood on her while Day's character excitedly cheers how exciting the event was.
