Judging by some of the pictures of him that were shown on the news today, I think he might be gracing another one of your threads in the near future

He was still touring in Japan up until 2 weeks ago. At 94. Formidable.

I liked his UK hit singles 'Dance In The Old Fashioned Way' and 'She' - always heard on the radio at the time.
I also like his song 'Yesterday, When I was Young' describing the sudden descent from carefree youth into middle age. A few people have covered it and I especially like the version by Shirley Bassey, in the epic MOR style of 1970.
R.I.P. Charles Aznavour.

Andy Jacobs mentioned CA's passing on TalkSport this afternoon with a little anecdote.
Jacobs' father re-married in later life to a French lady and settled in France. Whilst out in a bar, some local men started to antagonise Jacobs senior about the fact that he had taken a fine French woman when he should be staying in his own country with women from his own country etc.etc.
Charles Aznavour happened to be in the bar, overheard what was going on and intervened on Jacobs seniors behalf much to his relief.
Rip CA.

Although I had heard the name I had no idea who he was or what he was famous for, I thought he was an actor.
Sounds like he lived a very good life though and still going strong right up to the end.
RIP

Worth pointing out that CA made over 60 movies. A lot were French films so might not have ever been shown over here. He did appear in 'Candy' (1968), 'The Games' (1970), 'And Then There Were None' (1974), 'Sky Riders' (1976) and 'The Muppet Show' (1977) among many others.
