Anyone else watched any of this Danny Boyle series on BBC? Another 1970s drama based on fact (or inspired by real events as they put it) with Donald Sutherland as John Paul Getty. He is excellent in that role and the whole thing is pretty well brilliant. I would certainly recommend it.
I've seen the first three episodes, I would rate it very highly. Harris Dickinson plays John Paul Getty III and he is good too. A lot of location filming in Rome. Brendan Fraser is very impressive as John Paul Getty's fixer. I remember the events happening but not the details at all. A seriously rich and seriously dysfunctional family.
All ten episodes of this are available on the BBC iPlayer, I have seen eight of them so far and they are uniformly excellent. It is the best new thing I have seen on television for some time, better even than 'A Very English Scandal' which was also excellent. I would give it 10/10 no doubt. I was going to post a link to one of the trailers on YouTube but to be honest - as is often the case with trailers - they give too much away of the way the story unfolds which contains more twists and unexpected changes of direction than I expected. Each episode focuses on one character to some extent and the story is not told in a simple linear fashion. I am not going to say anything about the plot and give away any spoilers - I just about remember the event happening but at the time never picked up on the nuances. But it is incredibly good.
