Dead at 59 Brilliant player, watched him many times at Coventry. A genuinely nice man as well. Looked like a nightclub bouncer until he spoke, always well mannered and polite. No age at all. RIP Big man

Remember him very well from growing up and read his autobiography last year, as well as another book about Regis, Cunningham and Bateson.
Came across as a decent man and came into professional football the hard way.
RIP

Gutted - as a kid he was the coolest guy in the Pannini sticker album and a top player from an era where football was very cool. Very cool that is, until I found out years later that Cyrille was the victim of a lot of racial abuse from the sidelines - what a fighter he was and always thought he did very well to get through this period and still be an icon. Superb player.
RIP

Big Cyrille, like John Barnes shut the bigots and racists up with their skill and talent. Then they won them over. Totally aware and under no illusion it was of its time. When Ron Atkinson said his career ending gaffe against Desailly, the media, led by the sinister Garth Crooks, were screaming out to crucify him. The FIRST to rally round his ex-gaffer was Cyrille Regis. And I'll say this, Cyrille would get lumps kicked out of him in the penalty box, and STILL didn't go over. Honest professional, who loved the game. A good man. Oh, I was there! wildeastfootball.net/2017/01/football-diplomacy-west-broms-1978-tour-of-china/

R.I.P. Cyrille Regis. I well remember the eclectic WBA team of that time.

When I first began getting into football in the late 70's Cyrille was one of its brightest young talents and it's hard to accept that we've lost him before he had reached 60.
RIP Sir
