British black comedy starring Chris Rea, Felicity Kendall and a whole host of British stars: Joanna Lumley, Gareth Hunt, Oliver Reed, Ben Kingsley, John Cleese, Bob Hoskins, Diana Rigg, Peter Davison and you'll also find a stack of faces that have been in Minder too: Nicky Henson, Caroline Langrishe, Patrick Ryecart, Timothy Carlton, Sheila Steafel and Christopher Routh (Shaun in the Minder drugs episode 'A Little Bit of Give & Take - you don't see him in much at all).
Chris Rea plays Harry Sterndale, given 6 weeks to live he turns from passive wedding photographer to murderer, seeking fair play by wiping out all those who have wronged him during his life. There is a good bit of action in this and a bit of shooting and arson too. A Michael Winner film.
This film has been slated online by all quarters but at time of writing has an IMDb rating of 6.2. Despite the negative reviews of this film, I actually quite liked it. The story is pretty predictable but nevertheless the countryside Britishness of this film and my support for Sterndale's quest for fair play, means overall I quite liked it. There is just something likeable about this film.
7/10 - granted, there are a few silly moments and Cleese overacts but generally speaking this is good fun and entertainment for 1h 34 minutes or so. There is no way this is the worst British film of all time as some might insinuate online, that award definitely goes to Danny Dyer's 'Run For Your Wife' and this film is much better than that!
