To celebrate 40 years of the show, I'm going to live tweet the first series on the same dates and timeslots as they were shown in 1977/78, starting with Private Madness, Public Danger on Saturday 30th of December at 9PM. I will basically tell the story as though we were seeing it for the first time. (In my own unique way of course, so it makes sense to people who maybe haven't seen the episode before, or maybe haven't seen it in a while) As well as being the first episode it also features guest star Keith Barron who passed away last month, and my intention is to do it as a small tribute to him. Then of course there's the rest of series 1, starting with The Female Factor on January 6th.
I'm doing the first series as an experiment, if it goes well and people get something out of it then I will do it again for the 40th anniversary of series 2.
For a successful technology reality must take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled.
When the first ever episode was shown in December 1977, my family were living in Worthing, West Sussex in a rented home. Then in March 1978 when series 1 ended, they moved to London.
"What was I thinking of, hitting him? Nothing. No, I know. I hate him! I hate his guts, I hate everything he stands for with his PACE and his plus and his statements of purpose and his smiling at the punters and his have a nice day! I mean when was the last time he ever nicked anybody, eh? A real villain! When was the last time he ever put himself on the line?"
