I just came across something about him being in serious condition and then saw this. I remember watching The Partridge Family when it originally aired. My older sister had the records and I remember them better than the tv show. She played them a lot. From what I've seen and read he had the talent to go beyond "teen idol" stereotype with his music but no one wanted to give him a chance. Rest In Peace.

I first came to hear about him in the mid 80s when watching TOTP one evening when my brother and his girlfriend were around, and Cassidy had a single in the charts and appeared on TOTP and his girlfriend was besotted. That is when I discovered how big a star he was in the 70s.
Dementia is a horrible disease.

Didn't know he was ill. This guy was incredibly popular with the girls of my age circa 1970 - 1975.
RIP

I remember him and Donny were on the cover of every music magazine in the 1972 era, not the PROPER music press like NME etc, but teen music mags, and comics like Jackie. Mrs Ace saw him a few years ago, she said it was sad to see him drunk and shattered all her teen memories of him. A very troubled young man. Hope hes found peace now.
Always felt for his dad, Jack Cassidy who's waning star was blown apart by David, and later, Shaun.....bet hit resented them at times. Jack was the he Nazi magician in an episode of Colombo.

Maybe I've been busy lately. But I didn't know he had passed away until I saw it here.... There was no doubt that David was a teen idol, but (like Suzi Quatro and David Essex in the same period), he often did good songs. He was not from the cheesy end of glam. His versions of 'How Can I Be Sure' and 'Darlin' were good, and 'Rock Me Baby' was a great rock single. I am sorry to hear of his death. R.I.P. David Cassidy.
