Certainly one of the great rhythm guitarists.

So saddened to hear of Malcolms passing. The backbone behind AC/DC. Bon was the lyricist and Angus the visual point, but it was Malcolm who was the backbone Very sad.

Sad news indeed. The family has had two sons pass away recently with George Young (1946-2017) going in October. George was the founder of the Aussie band The Easybeats who hit the big time with 'Friday on My Mind' in 1966.
RIP to both Young brothers.

RIP Malcolm Young. Great contribution to music. Good life doing what he loved. Sad retirement from the band due to dementia in the last couple of years with his nephew filling his place in the band.

I saw them a few times, ALWAYS full on! Always rated Malcolm as a true rhythm player. Just plugged in and did his job with no fuss. I'm pretty sure the band will stop now. Powerage, If You Want Blood and Highway To Hell are just brilliant albums. Back in Black isn't an album I care for, too soon after Bon with Brian Johnson a poor replacement in my opinion.

AC/DC were a great rock band without going over into pure heavy metal.
I liked their good run of hit singles in the late 70s-early 80s period, which spanned the changeover from Bon Scott to Brian Johnson who were both powerful, charismatic vocalists. Alongside them was the distinctive 'schoolboy' character of Angus Young.
Underpinning all of this was the drive of brother Malcolm.
RIP Malcolm Young.

Brilliant rhythm guitarist and he always kept everything solid. Superb riffs and distinctive backing vocals as well. AC/DC were a band the punks found favour with too.

AC/DC were a band the punks found favour with too. Yes, they were of that same period. AC/DC's songs went beyond pure heavy metal and had a wider appeal.
